With so many of you coming unhinged over the Kelly speculation, I thought you might appreciate a voice of reason.

Despite the Gators wanting a coach in as quickly as possible due to the early signing period, this search remains young. It could end in a snap if UF decides to tap Kelly for the job, or it could extend another two-plus weeks. There is also the consideration that both sides may want it to look like interest — or a negotiation — is not far down the road as leverage to ensure they get what they want from one another. So while (the Chris Low) report certainly does not put Kelly at Florida immediately, it also should not worry anyone in the “Kelly or bust” camp at this time.

I wonder what "capital" you are talking about. As I understand it we have debt and an appropriate cap on our debt (100M). So I don't see any capital being saved, just being reasonable in debt. Now if you can raise a couple of 100 millions then we might have some capital to spend.
I love how people want to spend others money.

Well he is claiming that this Chip Kelly news is just a smokescreen to save Mullen from dealing with news and questions about him and the Florida job.
If that happens I seriously will give up on the program and agree with Meyer in that it is irreparably broken.

I’m not claiming my info is correct. But I just talked to my friend (who is in Gainesville this weekend) and he told me that the owner of nappys told him that the HBC told him it was not Kelly. (Did you get all that). He said it’s Mullen

And that makes me want to cry
This is not a smoke screen Kelly nor anyone in his camp has come out and said these are just rumors about him being the HC at UF. It might very well be that they never get a deal done but I fully believe they are trying. No way they would go through all the vetting and spend all the money just to throw us off.

He said it was broken, not irreparably, and he was referring to his own inability to control his players. What has that got to do with a coaching search seven years later?

Too many of you guys seem ready to jump off a ledge. Relax, we're moving forward.

Another reason why it's not gonna be Mullen is he just signed a new 4 year extention contract this year making 4.5 million a year so his buyout would exceed 12 million dollars. Do you really think we'd pay that to get him, I don't

I'll give you the best reason of all. Because Stricklin knows all too well he'd have his ass handed to him if he delivered Mullen.

I'm not jumping off any ledge unless we hire Mullen. I've said this many times before, I'm done if he becomes our head coach.

We'll hire Taggart before we hire Mullen. And don't think for one second that Taggart wouldn't do a complete 180 for the chance to return to Florida soil for the UF vacancy. He's already hinting he wants out of Oregon.

Wouldn't that be something. Taggart comes here and Kelly returns to Eugene. Sigh.

You can't use Chip Kelly one of the greatest offensive minds of this generation to throw us off only to give us Dan Mullen. That would be like your wife saying she wants a threesome then saying it's her hot friend and turns out to be a dude. You just can't do that.

The prospect of landing Kelly is at once the best and worst thing that could happen to Stricklin and UF. The huge upside is obvious. It's the specter of striking out that scares the crap out of you.

Where do you go after whiffing on Chip Kelly?

Answer: Straight down.

Unless, and only unless, the answer is Frost.

This is our Tom Herman, do we land him or do we fall to a Coach O type hire...
