If we try to hire Kelly and UCLA tries to hire Kelly, assume most things equal, and for argument sake, lets say Kelly selects to become HC at UCLA, then we really don't want him anyway. I think Chip would prefer a high paying Big 12 or Pac 12 job where defenses are so rare, they are almost impossible to find. I am not a Kelly guy, but would understand if we hired him. I would prefer an overall deeper thinker about football, who will not get flustered on weekly basis when games are more rough and tumble. Close games that are high scoring are less taxing on a coach and he does not feel he has to manage the game as closely. In the SEC, one mistake from the coach can cost you the game.

Gracious, all these positings are like supplements ads' testimonial, RH, Blatant, N.J. Or moreso, these defending/promoting postings are fiercely religiously fought for like Scientologists do. And you know how truth-connected those zealots are. We have a tsunami of Chip Kelly zealots.

Everyone, including CK, knew the UCLA job was going to be open. If he wanted it he didn’t need to work with UF. That job being open changes nothing.

Why is there an assumption that an announcement about Kelly this week would somehow deflate or disrespect the team? Everyone already knows Shannon isn't going to be the HC next season, certainly including Shannon. If anything, I think the news would pump the team up. It would sure as hell pump the fans in the stadium up.
I don’t think it has to do with disrespecting Shannon. As distracting as it is with the rumors, it would be much more distracting with a new coach. The players have seemingly bought into what Shannon is selling. They have been showing improvement and actually have a chance to beat FSU. I think Shannon and the UAA would love to see us close with a win. Doesn’t mean that announcing Kelly would be a negative, but it would certainly interfere with whatever they got going on.

I also think that recruiting is not being negatively impacted. There is so much smoke about Kelly that the recruits are actively lobbying for him.

Personally, i believe it’s done and i’m done fretting about it. It’s going to happen.

Only thing that would be good about waiting until after the FSU game is it will make the sting of getting beat by them a little easier to bear if they announced after the game. But ... that obviously isn't any line of thinking the UAA would/should use.

Which is what they should have done. Give the BB facility a facelift and get to work on the FB facility in the original location. Faster, cheaper, smarter, less Foley-like.
No reason why we can’t move both baseball and track. Move baseball now, and track later. We’ll need the land sooner or later so might as well free it up

The players have now suddenly “bought in” because we destroyed a team with a bunch of guys brought in from the parking lot?

The sledding is going to be a lot tougher against actual players this week.

I agree, but I do think they are playing with more fire and determination. It’s not a great team, but they are playing better than with Mac. It’s a definite improvement.

I think they’ve bought into what Shannon is selling. Not because they beat UAB but how they beat them. I really don’t see FSU’s offense being dramatically better than UAB.

So you think they suddenly wouldn’t buy in for one more game if Kelly was announced?

Yeah I don't know that it makes a difference if they announce now or later. I don't think they can keep it under wraps once the ink is dry. But maybe Shannon asked them to wait :dunno:

What if CK did realize the UCLA job would become available and he's leveraging Florida to get the better deal with the Bruins. Timing of the UCLA firing is curious.
