The eternal divide that occurs with a coaching candidate who views it as a business versus your brain locked on college football as a game of love.

I doubt that he signed anything. If he did, he would still weasel his way out of it. You can't force someone to marry you. It always turns out badly.

Figured when he was not announced last week, he was not coming here. Frost will be hard. He would have to snub his school that does have a history of winning.

Strong would not be the answer IMHO, see Texas. Who would want to come and play for Strong over Saban, Mahlzan, Smart, or whom ever Tinerc and aTm hire? Who ya taking in a Strong versus Saban, Mahlzan, or Smart game?

Along with the "culture fit" fiasco, this idea that we have to have a "Gator" is also complete nonsense. There is no easier place to recruit 5 stars (outside of Florida) than Texas and Strong did exactly what with his opportunity there? So, we get a "Gator", who "fits the culture" and go 8-4 every year. Let's see a show of hands who is ok with that?

As I mentioned before, and got a lot of flack for it, we had a three week head start and MAY end up with our 5th or 6th option at HC. If this happens to be the case, we can officially retire the "we are UF" argument moving forward because it will have proven to mean absolutely NOTHING. Welcome to mediocrity my friends. Excellence takes a commitment we may very well not be willing to accept now at UF.

I hold out a glimmer of hope the SS can pull this off but make no mistake, there is a monumental drop off after CK and SF IMO.

Sources say that Chip Kelly is a fan of a lighter shade of blue than offered by Nike apparel in Gainesville.

Seeking lighter shades of blue by Under Armor in California despite regular poker night invitations from Nike founder Phil Knight.

Almost time to put a wrap on this thread and bury it out in an isolated field. We should see the other coaching thread proliferate.
Agreed. This thread should be put out of its misery at this point. Let's start a thread called, "Coaches willing to fit a culture that has moved on from excellence."

Unbelievable if true. Short of us landing Frost this is a screwup of epic proportions. A result this bad could only get worse if they hired Mullen.

I sure hope SS had another plan all along and would have taken Kelly if he wanted it but has an actual master plan. If not, he is getting a second serving of pie the day after Thanksgiving.

Let me get this straight...IF Kelly decides to go elsewhere because he is a dickweed, its our screw up? If he doesnt want to be the coach at Florida we sure wouldnt want to try and force him right?

Yes it made us look like a joke sending the actual President there when the deal wasn't done if this falls through. We would be ragging the sh*t out of our rivals if the same thing happened to them.

Landing Frost is the only thing to take the sting off of this.

Yeah, colossal failure by Forde and big win by this Heitner dude. Don't know how plugged in that guy is but he was certainly right there.

Forde, in his defense, appears to rely on Dooley, as do some of you.

Dooley has been Mr. Last To Know since at least the mid 90s. His standard MO is to show up a week late and write a story claiming he knew it all the time, after righting articles about terrible fans and Gidiots thinking that Zook, Chimp and Butters were going to be fired.

Mr. Last To Know seems to only get his "scoops" from the SID's press releases.
