Its hard settling for less isnt it? For 7 million we could hire an army of recruiters and staff and turn Shannon into a genious!!!
And that's really the point, we should have a lot of options for $7MM a year

This 7 million number seems like bull. I can't see it verified anywhere.

That argument could hold water if we had Saban as our coach. We have a piss poor roster right now. No matter who it is, its going to take a bit of time. Chris Leak is not sitting there waiting for the next savior. Or did you expect a 10 win season next year with Kelly?
With Kelly I would have given us 8-9 wins. Yes. Coaching matters and while Kelly does not like to recruit...he doesn't need to as much because kids WANT to play for him.

I agree with you, that everybody needs to give him a chance. At this point there is no other option, it ain't like anybody on here is going to root for the Gators to lose. I am underwhelmed with the hire like most, and hope Mullen proves all us doubters wrong. But at 7 mil, he better do something fast. I couldn't believe that amount when it was announced, 7 mil can't = 8-4 every year. Next year will probably be a tough year, but we have a relatively easy schedule, he better show he can land top talent and develop it. Maybe he took Miss St to as high as they could go, but he better get UF a lot higher, if he wants to be here a long time.
We are not beating Georgia with DM at the helm. The only people more emotional over this hire are Georgia fans knowing that they don't have to worry about Florida any more in the east.

Whatever I can get for my four season tickets that I wont be using any time soon. I have seen the DM show and while it is different than butters, it is just as boring, only in a different way.

UF is so tone deaf. While we are flipping out, they are sending boosters this message:

Athletic Director Scott Stricklin and the Florida Gators are proud to welcome Dan Mullen to the Gator Nation as the head football coach!

In honor of this exciting news, we're offering 10 Gator Boosters loyalty points to new Gators Football season ticket holders. To qualify for this promotion, follow the link below to put $380 down on 2018 Gators football season tickets by December 10, 2017.

What exactly are loyalty points? Gator Boosters uses loyalty points to fairly allocate benefits by rewarding both a donor's longevity as a season ticket holder and the total cumulative ticket-related contributions made.

So just by signing up for season tickets by December 10, you will receive 10 loyalty points — that's equivalent to a $1,000 donation!

Yeah they are HAPPY. Clowntown and Miami too.

We hired a coach that Miami didnt want. Think about that.

How did this happen to us?

I hope they didn't hire Mullen because he is ok with the current state of the facilities and all. They better have a plan moving forward to improve them regardless of the success or failure over the next few years. Rinse and repeat.

Where are your seats ? I may be interested
Section 221. PM me if interested. I am going to offer them to my son-in-law first and then it is open market. I can't drive the 2-1/2 hrs up to G-Ville anymore to watch my beloved Gators continue to decline. I am mad because I have had these tickets since '92 and it breaks my heart that it just isn't fun anymore.

I was excited when Kiffin was hired to coach the Raiders. I was even more excited when he left. When Al Davis thinks you are a snake then that is something very telling.

I love how our fanbase now makes excuses for all his failures at MSU. We are gutless.
If you or anyone else on here can't get/see why its a good hire...no sense in attempting to explain it. and I really do not care if this opinion is popular on here or not. It's a solid hire.

Give your reasons, make your case. You'll get a better response than just calling people fools.

Then you would prefer a guy who has trashed every HC job he’s had.
Let's be honest....what does it matter at this point? He coached at USC and they are better than we are now. He coached @ Tennessee and they are better than we are now. Hell, you can recover from Lane quicker than you can recover from Butters. At least he can recruit and fill the shelves with talent before he implodes. :-)
