This, you hit the nail on the head. Putting aside the Penn state allegations, pursuing Schiano made absolutely no sense.

No sense??? He was an accomplished Head coach, and is DC at OSU. Made a lot of sense. Chasing people who are low probability opportunities wastes time and basically makes you look like idiots when it gets out.

If he was clean I would consider him for UF if we still needed a coach. Note that IF!!!

This was discussed a few days ago. Norvell was on the initial short list. Top 5 candidates. He started to fade away pretty quick after the vetting processes started. Not just for us. Miss St nor Arky have given him much attention. Agree with 5 star, something ugly may be lurking beneath the surface with Norvell. I never got a definite answer as to what.

I did have another thought about this. Norvell realizes he is second fiddle to Frost this season. Next year, with what he has returning and Frost leaving he tears up that conference, making him look like the next big thing. He may have said, thanks but no thanks this year, so he can be the hot name next year. Just an idea.

Exactly. This was a hatchet job by a fan base that was ready to destroy a guy's rep because they didn't like his record on the field. That's pretty deplorable. I realize it was a very vocal minority...but damn.

Agree. That makes a lot of sense. I heard a lot of good things about him being a really good up and coming coach. Players love him.
If I wanted to play devils advocate, I might speculate and say that schools cooled on him in fear that his current success is in large part to Fuente's existing talent at Memphis and as to date he has not exactly been stellar in recruiting.
Not saying that is my current narrative but just a thought.
