On the biggest stage? My dude, THEYRE ON PROBATION :lmao2:

They probably won’t even have nationally televised games :lmao2:

Their team is being gutted because the kids who have been there no longer trust the school and can’t stand to be there :lmao2:

Have fun Matty. We clearly didn’t want you anyways
We did, just not enough. Neither did Bama. Ole Miss amounts to an embarrassing consolation prize.

The kid wanted the SEC more than it wanted him.

I'm disappointed to some degree, because it seems that we just can't recruit QBs for schitt. We currently have two 3-stars who haven't taken a snap in a real game and a failed 4-star, none of whom are really well suited for Mullen's offense. Although the same can be said of Corral, he does have great talent and we could have benefitted from his presence. Oh well. But the big picture reality is that if losing a great class is what it takes to replace a sub-par HC, and an even worse staff, so be it. The return to respectability is going to be long and difficult. The fact that we're losing recruiting battles to a lower-tier team on probation should be a sobering reminder to all just how far we have fallen. But as others have already said, we need to find some high quality kids who are dedicated to being Gators. I sure hope that we find some pretty damned soon.

Quarterbacks aren't the issue. It's the head coaches.

Well this thread sure delivered. I really enjoy all the posters who only now think corral is nuts for committing to ole miss... but he was super smart back when he committed to arguably the worst HC OC combo in all of college football history.

No battle was lost. Mullen told Corral to take a hike and the fact that the only other school that came calling was Ole Miss, should tell you all you need to know about what other coaches thought about the kid. In the end, we dodged a bullet.

The first guy I worked for 30 years ago told me one time "I can't believe I have a job whose success relies quite a bit on the decisions of teenage males!" It still hasn't changed. As far as Corral is concerned, there's a lot to like about his skill set, regardless of what the overarching focus of our offensive system is. But the fact that he doesn't seem to have a ton of big schools courting him reminds me of a girl in high school that was drop-dead gorgeous, but none of the guys asked her out or had anything to do with her. A few years after graduation, she had already been married and divorced a couple of times and had wrecked her husbands both financially and emotionally. I can't say for sure if the kid is in this mold, but I think there's smoke coming out of the window for a reason.

For what lies ahead, we'll still get a QB or two and who knows, one (or more) may be what the offense needs to be successful? Not that this is necessarily going to happen, but two of our better QB's, Kerwin Bell and Shane Matthews, were initially unheralded and/or buried in the depth chart and went on to become pretty decent. Matthews in particular had a pretty QB coach to teach him the offense and develop the execution part. Not saying Mullen is as great as SOS by any means, but quite frankly I have more confidence that he'll do a good job of coaching up whoever he gets even if they have less stars than Corral. At this stage in the game, I'm more concerned at how good the defense becomes. The better this side of the ball is it will allow the O to develop and still provide us the opportunity to win.
Calling Steve"pretty"? Them's fighting words!

... it’s our program of course we are happy. Now that we have an upgrade coach he picked a 6-6 interim coach on two year post season probation

I guess I don't understand the angst about losing this young man. When we hired Coach Mullen, most you had the correct assessment about a misfit between Corral's skillset and the anticipated offensive scheme. No surprise that the recruiting process changed course. We are now looking to recruit the right young men to play for our new coach. I wish Matt all the best at Ole Miss but when he plays Florida, he will be Gator Bait.
