I'm not ready to say "yes" to this. It seems clear to me that McYet and Nuss weren't doing any real coaching. That pass Felipe threw to Cleveland to win the game against tinerc was perfectly thrown, clutch, and seemed to show the good recognition and quick decision-making needed to seize the opportunity that was presented. Was it a fluke? I don't know. He did something similar again in the Kentucky game. I'm going to reserve judgment until after he gets some real, bona fide coaching. Hopefully, he responds well. If not, I'll be looking forward to Jones tearing it up in 2019.

No joy on this. A team source told me FF got the reads correct no more than 50% of the time, so prob no better than guessing. Coaches couldn't believe how bad he was at reading the D and processing. We knew his head for the game (by far most imp thing for a QB) was underdeveloped coming in, and he hasn't impressed.

As I remember it, the Cleveland pass required no read and no quick decision. Maybe DM can eliminate reads for him, but DM has already said he doesn't want a QB who needs to look to the sideline for every read.

Yeah... yeah... yeah....

Poor drunk Dough Dumpsterfire keeps landing bad QBs at Fla, Meetchikin and Bammer and that's why his awesome offense doesn't work. Whatever.

Mullinz/Creyer offense is so easy even Jordan Reed can run it. No problem.

I will say this, you remained in "Defend Butters and Dumpsterfire Mode" til the bitter end.

Hah! Swamp Law gives this a quick dislike! Must have been waiting a while for the opp to give me the DL.

(This is from the recruiting board on gatorcountry, does a great job):

Candy Gram NSD:

Now that the early class is signed, CDM will complete his staff and fill in the blanks for NSD. At 13 ES, look for up to 12 more. That would include Gouraige and Gammage who did not signed but are still committed. There will be an Emory Jones effect but it’s too soon to know how much. On the offensive side of the ball UF only needs 2 OL if Gouraige stays on board and I think he will. They would take 3 if it’s the right 3. RB and TE are done. I think they will go 3 WR if they can get 3 they want. Getting Van Jefferson took a lot of pressure off of the WR position. So here are the potential prospects for seven spots max on the offensive side of the ball

Corey Gammage: now listed as 50/50 UF UM by 247. I think UF still wants him but the staff was concentrating on other guys. JMO.

Jamarr Chase: back in play, did not sign with TCU early. For some reason, Chase has not ever been enamored with LSU and to a lesser extent TCU. I believe he could get back on board.

Jacob Copeland: I truly think the talented WR is conflicted. The further from the coaching change and the Matt Corral DE commit, the less effect it will have on him. The Van Jefferson transfer also caught his attention and he may like the idea of coming in with Jones.

Tommy Bush: offered on the 11th, Bush is supposed to visit in January. Currently a Baylor lean. That Baylor Coach is a kool aid salesman.

Marquezz Ezzard: The slender WR has not found the right fit. Do not be surprised if you hear he is coming for a visit. Leaned UGA, committed and then DE committed from fsu. Hearing noise and maybe UF will feel right.

Anthony Scwartz: I had wrote him off to Auburn for several reasons but I think he really wants to stay in state. What I don’t know is where he and the current staff are in relation to one another.

Off the Board: Malik Henry, Stephen Guidry, Tyquan Thornton.

Candy’s prediction for UF WR Class: Gammage, Copeland, Jefferson, Ezzard.

New Name: I expect at least one new name to pop up.

OL:

William Barnes: I still have UF as his destination

Ed Montilus: Barnes oft times forgotten team mate.

Nik Petit Frere: Andrew has him going to OSU, I don’t know why but he may know something I don’t. 247 still has the quiet guy at 50% UF. Needs to get stronger but moves very well for an OT. Watch his tape if you have time. Blocks down field a lot.

Christian Meadows: FSU commit who visited UF on the 9th. He did not sign early and is not a nole lock. He claims he will visit UF on an OV. If he does this could get interesting.

New Name: This is a position that could see a new name or two. Who of us knew of Banks and Bleich three weeks ago?

Candy’s OL prediction for UF: Banks, Bleich, Gouraige, Barnes, Montillus. +1 of NPF or Meadows.

If UF goes seven on the Offensive side of the ball then they will only sign five more on the defensive side. At this point you take the five best guys on defense you can get regardless of position. UF would love an elite corner. I don’t see one on the board that UF has a real good shot at. That said, perhaps new DB coach Warren has one in mind that we don’t know about. That said I will list a couple of long shots.

CB: Patrick Surtain, I still say LSU but I will say this, if he decides to stay in state I think he would pick UF.

CB: Tyson Campbell, the canes think he is theirs but, but, he wouldn’t sign early. Still UF is a long shot IMO.

CB: Esaias Furdge, call it a hunch. The CB is commited to MSU but did not sign early.

Fabian Lovett: another hunch as the 3* DT was recruited by Billy G, to MSU. The Olive Branch native did not sign early.

Malik Langham: The 6’5 265 SDE is scheduled to visit on January 19. He is from Huntsville Ala.

Dorian Gerald: The big JUCO DE is scheduled to visit Feb. 2nd. Look for things to heat back up with Mr. Gerald. If he makes it to his visit I like UF’s chances.

Coynis Miller: Blast from the past, the big DT was mentioned by Spivey as being on the radar still. I still believe that the Alabama product wanted to come to UF but succumbed to pressure.

Noah Jefferson: The big JUCO DT will most likely choose between UF and Arkansas. I like UF in this one.

Nesta Sylvera: The Cane commit did not sign early. He is one of those guys you get the feel that he is just not sure. Now I still think he will be a Cane but for whatever reason his name keeps coming up. Regardless the guy is a beast.

Linebacker: I don’t know of any prospects at the position. If it were me, I would pitch Nik Bonitto and Andrew Chatfield real quick about playing linebacker at UF in the 3-4 but alas, the staff has not asked for my opinion. Bonitto is CB’d to Texas and Chatfield, a onetime UF lean is pegged for the canes.

New Names: Most likely we shall see some as the staff is filled out: they should open doors to guys we haven’t known about.

Candy’s Defensive predictions for UF: Noah Jefferson, Dorian Gerald. I’m sure there will be others but they are the only two on the list I am ready to project in the class.

Other observations:

UCLA: Chip chose UCLA and the sky was falling on UF according to some. Well the Chipster did just so so yesterday losing 2 4*guys at the last minute. That is not including that he lost Bleich to Mullen and UF. Now Chip will do well but it does not appear that recruits are lining up to play for him just yet.

Nebraska: Welcome to big time FB Mr. Frost. Nebraska did ok yesterday but Scott will find out it is harder to get your guys in power 5.

FSU: Willie and fsu had a big last Weekend. Problem is, they came, they partied, they left, they signed somewhere else. Now, don’t get to happy as I believe, given time and his staff in place the noles will recruit well. They will most likely not have their normal high ranked class this year. I do think he will finish scrong with Thompson, Lamarr and Bolden who were going all the way to Oregon prior to the change. Fsu also offered a 3* DT out of Georgia named Jamarcus Chatman who I think they will get. They also took another hit when former UT pledge at QB, Michael Penix, decided to commit to Indiana. Perhaps Willies flirtation with Jones turned Penix off.

Byron Cowart: signed with D.J. Durden at Maryland. You may recall that the Gaddy twins signed with the Terps last year after considering UF. Durden has UM on the rise as this is projected to be his 2nd top 20 class in a row.

Texas A&M: Jimbo is off to a bit of a slow start. The Aggies only had eight early signees although they were expecting one or two more today. Jimbo, at TA&M for some reason doesn’t worry me. I think he will recruit well but he is in a different world now. Time will tell but, Bama, Auburn, LSU every year is tough. His permanent east opponent is SC, but he will also get UGA and UF in some years. Welcome to the SEC Jimmy boy.

Tennesee: The coaching change fiasco cost UT some big time kids. Trey Dean, Cade Mays, and both QB commits, Michael Penix and Adrian Martinez. They are trying to salvage the class and did get UF target Jerome Carvin. Still Pruitt’s recruiting will not be any better than Butch Jones IMO. Thus far he has a bunch of 3*s. The only head to head I am aware of is with Dorian Gerald.

UGA: no sugar coating it, the dogs are killing it. They signed six 5* guys. That is Sabanesque. What should worry other teams are the OL guys they signed. Cade Mays, Jameree Sayler and Trey Hill. In addition they signed Justin Fields and Zamir White. Former UF CB commit Diviad Wilson also inked with the Dogs. The only bad news they got was WR Elijah Moore flipping to Ole Miss. Getting top WR’s in this run happy scheme may get more difficult although they did sign Kieris Jackson.

Jordan Reed couldn't even call the plays in the huddle

Right, but he could read the play (usually just reading an end or DT) and run the play.
Jordan Reed eats crayons. It's that simple.

The pass plays are nearly as simple.

I'm not an xs and Os guy...but it seems to me that Meyers O was based on a quick first step by the OL and being in the right space at the right time. Then the speedsters (Harvin) find the crease and hit it hard. Have to have the speed. And bulk.

I agree that the scheme is easy...but you can't have "generic" players. They have to have a quick first step.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Thanks so much for the post. I feel a lot better. I didn't think that we had enough targets left to sign a very big class. Still don't think that we will get 25, but I feel much better.

Huh? Dude, Mac had to go this season, without question. I didn't defend him til the end. Granted, I wasn't ready to fire the guy 18 months into his tenure, so color me wrong about that. I was optimistic for too long. He was a crap coach and I don't blame any players for that. Certainly wasn't making an excuse for Mac.

Today I was replying to someone else's post with info on FF directly from the team. If someone on the team told you different, then say so. That's what forums are for.

We can sign up to 23 as of today....I think, if the staff finds enough quality recruits, we'd take as many as 30 (due to early enrollees being counted towards the previous class). We're going to see at least another 5 transfers and/or early NFL departures. It happens every year.....and even more so w/ coaching turnover.

We will have double digits who quit once the new S&C stuff begins in January.

This is going to be a rude awaking from the Mr. PBJ days.
