You have to hire great coaches but you also have to hire coaches you are comfortable with that can coach your philosophy.
Unless you're the type of CEO who thinks fresh blood brings out the best ideas and it's his/her job to get brilliant underlings to work well together.

Its a joke if your comparing Franklin to Mullen. I don't think they are in the same class.
You think a coach who won 8 games per season at talentless doormat MSU in the toughest division in cfb with 2-3 star recruits will still only win 8 games per season at a premier program like UF with an elite talent pool and 4-5 star recruits in an easier division, yet you are calling someone else's statement ridiculous?

LOL come on man. You have battered wife syndrome after muschamp and Mac. You aren't thinking straight. MSU is just as hard of a job as vandy if not harder and mullen did just as good of a job at MSU as Franklin did at vandy btw.

Going from MSU to UF is worth at least 3 wins more per season..at least.

He hasn't proved yet that he's oing recruit a full class of elite talent. Mac had the same recuiting pool and didn't do well at recruiting. Yes he pulled a Qb but let's see him pull an entire of elite talent like the big boys do.

I think what everyone is missing is that he did well at MSU just like Franklin did well at Vandy.

This is right - except the SECw was much more difficult than the SECe during that time.

But these guys aren’t widgets. Franklin was just right for Vandy and he’s proving to be a great fit at PSU. I would have been happy to have him at UF.

Likewise, Mullen did more at MSU than anyone except possibly (cheater) Sherrill. The issue now is whether or not Mullen can rebuild here like Franklin is doing at PSU. That is also an issue of fit and timing along with ability.

Thus far, Mullen 2017 is much more likable than Mullen 2005-08. It is very hard to overcome long established recruiting relationships but he’s doing a great job. His homecoming is hitting the right notes its way early but so far so good.

By default even if he is a mediocre recruiter the talent his teams at uf will have much more talent than MSU and so far he is proving to be a good recruiter. He averaged 8 wins with garbage talent at MSU, so at uf he will do much better.

Average recruiter at msu= 30 something ranked class

Average recruiter at florida = around the 10th ranked class

Even Mac, who was a garbage recruiter and garbage at assembling a staff was on pace for a top 5 class this season before getting fired. That is the power of UF.

Hopefully some of your coaches occasionally leave for promotion, etc and a little new blood is added along but in a stable fashion.

I remember you hating that I brought up the fact of steroid use at UF during your time there. You know it’s not a good look when people on the S&C staff hook up the boyfriends of people on staff as a “favor”. Just tell your buddies to not supply any more domestic abusers, it doesn’t mix with your sauces.

As for Mullen, go EABOD. If you don’t like him don’t watch. We all know you think you are smarter than him. We don’t need to be reminded of it like a bad TRex thread.

Let's not forget that UF just went 4-8 in the weak-weak SEC East. Nobody, I don't think, is saying that Mullen, that "semi-successful MSU HC confers some grand guarantee that he will tear it up at UF? No one's guaranteeing natty's" at anytime even in the future.

This is a "late-to-the-table" transition recruiting cycle and DM is doing well by that measure. It sure seems logical to expect better recruit relationships to develop by next year ... and those should be top athletes that our state produces.

Well you’ve certainly stopped defending the S&C crew. And good try trying to deflect on me. You worked in an area known notoriously for drug use and homosexuality. The odds that both apply are greater than neither. Let me guess, you never popped a no-doze or anything. You’re not Tebow, you’re not a unicorn, no matter how much it’s your favorite animal.
