This is a big surprise. This kid has been projected Clemson for months:

FSU snags top QB Sam Howell from North Carolina

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...-fsu-qb-commit-sam-howell-20180409-story.html

SU, which didn’t sign a quarterback in its 2018 recruiting class, landed a big one for 2019 Monday night when Sam Howell of Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley High announced via his Twitter account that he was committing to the Seminoles.

Howell, a 6-foot-1, 217-pound pro-style passer, is the No. 4-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country according to 247Sports. He is also the No. 152-ranked player overall.

“I’m proud to announce my commitment to Coach Taggart and Florida State University,” Howell said in a lengthy post on social media.

He’s considered a pro-style QB, but he’s adept at running the ball, as well.

In his first three seasons a Sun Valley, Howell has thrown for 10,175 yards and 109 touchdowns, He has aso run for 2,229 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Howell had a huge season last year, completing 59 percent of his passes (225 of 382) for 3,372 yards and 36 touchdowns, and running for 1,594 more yards and 24 touchdowns.

Willy Urkel Mc Harbaugh has no clue what to do with a QB anyway. It wont matter.

It's great they're visiting but we need a big commit in the worst way.

We have a ton of visitors this weekend. I'm hoping we see a commit (or two) coming out of it. Otherwise, it may not be until the camps in June. We have 7 commits right now....and a couple of them are highly questionable (i.e. FAU caliber). LB Marcus Tillman is one to watch. We'll see...

This is another kid who we've apparently moved in front for (he's a teammate of Jalon Jones at St. Francis):

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/shane-lee-58117

Shane Lee
4-star
Inside linebacker
6'0'' | 235 lbs
CLASS OF 2019

Offer list includes: Alabama, Clemson, FSU, LSU, UF, Maryland, Nebraska.
Higdon and Warren both had him CB'd to PSU, but that was before JJ committed. Sure would be great to land this kid as well.

The B10 schools recruit that area hard. Interestingly, if you click the Rivals link PSU isn't listed among the top 5. At 6' 240 he'd be a huge pick up for MLB in this system. He'd likely be a 245-250lb LB by the time he plays for us - which is very Alabama-esque!

This kid is a beast. Watched the St Frances Bingham film. This kid dominated a top 10 HS running program. All over the field hits hard and fast. Reminds me of Channing Crowder and Spikes

Elsewhere around the SEC:

LSU: lands grad-transfer CB from Stanford, Terrence Alexander. A 5'10 180lbs, played in 40 career games at Stanford and had 7 pass breakups and made 1 interception. He missed all but one game last season due to injury. As a result, the NCAA granted Alexander an extra year of eligibility. He also visited Tennessee before deciding on LSU.

Miss State: landed a 4-star DE from Nashville. Ani Izuchukwu, a 6'5 220lb weakside DE. Izuchukwu is the No. 14 weak-side defensive end in the class of 2019 and the No. 10 overall recruit from the state of Tennessee.

Jalon Jones and Jammal Abrams are the only two commits that stand out to me. They were must takes. And I am pretty certain both of them will be 4 stars.

Ethan White has good size and may be a four star OL when it is all said and done.

Dionte Marks - Has good speed But we took him way too early.

Ja'Markis Weston WR - Really good size. 6’4”. Recruited by Seider. So I’m willing to give a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.

Trent Whittemore ATH - i’m not sure why he was a take at this moment. Way, way, way too early.

Wardrick Wilson OL - South Florida OL recruited by Shannon. Shannon has never been a good evaluator of talent. Taken waaay too early IMO.

Hell, I'd go as far as to say they are all questionable except for Jones.

I like Whittemore, he's a Gator legacy and a local kid....and is big. He can play Safety, LB, WR or TE at the next level. He's an athlete too (he won the Gainesville Sun basketball player of the year award). But....it was too early to take a kid like him.

Yeah. There are all questionable to me except for Jones and Abrams. I think Abrams would’ve gotten scooped up by Bama. Good size.

I think White was taken a bit too early but I think he has highest potential of the others.

I’m okay with 4 of them.

I mean – if we’re doing nothing but bringing in elite kids from here on out, then the other guys are fine and should find good roles. But we shouldn’t be looking for role players right now. We are looking for elite talent and playmakers right now.

We’ll see how these kids do at the camps. Maybe the coaches see something early in them.

We’ll see.
