Well if it makes anyone feel better Matty struggled a bit in the OM spring game, however their starter looked prime. Granted he got some reps last year.

On a different note I watched both of the TAMU and OM games and to their credit they actually looked like they were playing a "real game". The defenses did not hold back except limited blitzing and I'm sure the offenses did not scroll through the entire playbook....

At risk of starting a sh!t storm I have to ask why we didn't have a more intense scrimmage? To me the whole thing seemed like a late afternoon playground pick up BB game where the intensity is gone so guys let each other blow by for a dunk with the understanding of the other guy doing the same.....The whole "running clock" in the 2nd half.....letting QB's continue to play after obviously being tagged by a defender......counting the celebrity TD's.....You'd get the feeling we were just coming off a NC and had a set roster.....

The other schools were cracking pads and going at least 80-90%....Hell there were plays were our Dline never even got into a stance. Guys kicking FG's without a dline on the field? C'mon I can still knock one through from 40 yards off a tee......I understand the whole injury bit but we need to find players. I had more intense scrimmages in Jr. High than I saw out there.

Franks- I thought the deep ball to Jefferson was a decent throw that could have been hauled in. Outside of that he had a couple of nice short throws to Josh and Jefferson. Had a mix up on an option route on 3rd down that needs to be cleaned up through practice. It was good to see some gumption from Feliepe, and although it was just a spring game he at least showed he has the nuts to run the ball. Ball security will be important for him come fall. He isn't a natural runner.

Trask- Missed a gimme bubble to KT on opening play. Mullen is right he is inconsistent. He misses some easy throws like that a 10 year old could complete , and then proceeds to deliver a 3rd down strike to Cleveland in traffic.
Later he would miss an alone Toney over the middle of 4th down sailing the ball nowhere near him. Then loft a beauty on the back shoulder throw to Cleveland to setup a short Scarlett score. Both guys have their moments where it looks like they can play at this level. Only to have a head scratcher moments later.

Emory- I like him a lot, and have a difficult time thinking he doesn't play a good bit this season . The lasers over the middle were really a thing of beauty. His presence should also make life easier for our talented backs. I really like the young freshmen ball carriers, but it appears there might not be enough carries to go around for them. As far as other freshmen not on campus that will have a chance to be a factor have to include Copeland and Pitts. We aren't going to know for awhile the status of Grimes and or Jefferson. Even if we have both (which we won't) I believe Copeland at the very least will earn a few touches per game. Pitts and Gamble I think can make a pretty good duo at TE. C'yontai just doesn't bring much to the table, so because of that Pitts will have a good chance to earn playing time.

You must have a different style of pickup basketball game. Our style was no blood no foul

I must say you are right about this. we heard Relentless effort and other phrases all spring and that's the last thing that spring game was. maybe we were worried about depth and injuries. maybe we were not really concerned about establishing depth charts, in other words we know who's starting. I don't really know.

However two quarters of a joke two-hand touch scrimmage followed by two quarters of Scrubs was quite disappointing.

When they aren't allowed to knock the fvkk out of him. That's why they should have been allowed to knock the middle school out of him... same for Franks.

You can run the spread option? Prove it.

They would never do that in an orange and blue game. However the leeway they gave the offense was embarrassing. Mullen Knows that his QBs suck and he’s trying to amp up their confidence.

Franks is a bit of a douchebag.

Yeah........ and your point is? You guys were screaming for Franks and telling us Anyone but LDR just a few short months ago.

Who did you want? Was nothing wrong with screaming for Franks. LDR sucked. Now we know Franks sucks. So we scream for somebody else.

Why are you being so damn self righteous?

That's almost embarrassing but I felt it was the case too....
If I were coach and Franks punted that ball after that embarrassing fake TD where he was touched at the 20 then the 10, I would have made him go up in the stands and fight whoever had the damned thing to get it back just to teach him how the f vck to take care of the ball.......Otherwise I'd pull his schollie......

BECAUSE OUR QBs SUCK. If he ran it like a real scrimmage we would have 0 yards of offense it would’ve affected all of the recruits on campus and killed the vibe of the Swamp.

We already know how terrible they are. Why does he have to prove it again during the Orange and Blue game?

He has absolutely done that in the past.

It's not just my poor memory one of the articles mentioned it too.

I can’t recall a single orange and blue game where the quarterbacks got lit up.

That being said, everything about this game was a joke. It was like a freaking circus. And I think he mainly did that to:

1. Try to reengage the fan base
2. Re-engage the Boosters (hence the “coaches”
3. Create excitement for recruits on campus
4. Spare Franks’ delicate feelings since he’s probably the only true D1 QB on staff other than EJ.

I hope that these new linemen that come in take a couple starting positions and that the OL shores up. And then EJ put on 10 pounds and takes the starting role.

That would be ideal.

You guys crack me up. The O&B has never amounted to anything more than practice at the big stadium.

I guarantee the only disappointed people are the fans. Not the coaches, not the players, certainly not the former players, who for a change are being openly welcomed back.

You're missing the bigger message. Mullen wants to put the fun back in Gator football. That's why you saw Franks diving unnecessarily in the endzone, blowing kisses to the crowd, the players hurling balls deep into the crowd, Lawrence Wright and Travis McGriff on the field catching TD passes.

Don't make more bad out of it than needs to be. Ask the UGA players what changed most when Richt left and Smart came in, and to a man you'll hear the same. The positive vibe. The energy, the fun, the renewed commitment to a common goal.

Same here IMO.

There'll be plenty of grind between now and Sept. 1, and I think the players know that more than anyone.

Meh, I enjoyed it. I wasn’t expecting a hard hitting game - just wanted to see how the players were adapting to a new system. They seemed to enjoy it. Had a good atmosphere.

People bitching about O&B being nothing more than a marketing piece haven't been paying attention for the last 15 years. It's all about energizing the fans, recruits, etc... has nothing to do with actual football.

fake head coaches
former players "sneaking" on the field for touchdowns
Mullen saying during one interview they are draw plays up in the dirt for excitement

This was just to get people "happy" about the offense, and to get the money rolling for the facility improvements.

Don't read into it more than it was.

I remember when practice meant getting better.....oh, and a whole helluva lot of hitting. I saw little to none of either out there.

What about the guy who may be buried on the depth chart....or the position coach trying to figure out a rotation or depth chart....good coaches NEVER stop coaching....
Oh, and the part about former players....c'mon we've been saying that same sh!t since Urban left.....guess what Urban won without them around for the most part and these kids don't even know who Louis Oliver is/was....BTW Fred Taylor was all over the sidelines for Kelvin's Spring games and we were in the mist of some really sh!tty football then too.....

Don't make more bad out of it than needs to be.
Hell how much worse can it get? I don't want to see a bunch of guys who just had a horrible season playing Duck,Duck,Goose after the officials and coaches give them a fake TD:facepalm:.....And I guarantee you Kirby will have his team looking a bit more serious than what we saw come next Saturday..... smfh.....

I smell general damage, loss of use, and pain and suffering. I'm confident any attorney will take this on a contingency basis.

Orange and blue has never meant tons of hitting. You just completely made that up. Don’t remember any of that. Because it’s never existed.

Never said Orange and Blue was like that....78 said it was "practice"......With the results we been having around here lately I think it's time for a different format is all.....

You know this entire thread is about O&B. And that is exactly what he was talking about in his post.

And you have no idea what’s going on at practice. You don’t think they’re hitting each other in practice? Really?
