This will be a good thing. I know some of you don't get it due to growing up during the Great Depression, but it's ok to be flashy from time to time.

I don't think the issue is flashy. It's putting the cart before the horse. Win football games and you can dress as flashy as you want.

Meyer's teams did it and NOBODY complained.

I’m not wasting my time worrying about future recruiting classes and things like that because they are totally meaningless until we see this team actually play.

The question is, if we play well will people like law and MJM give props to the coaching staff? I don’t think they will.

If Trask came in and led us to a miracle win against UGA I think law would be absolutely miserable, and that’s pretty sad.

I believe in being optimistic until players or coaches give you a reason not to be. Like it or not, Mullen was hired and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in an extremely difficult situation. I’m excited for the season.

Someone that loves Donkey needs to be on call with the sedatives if this happens. Anything that is sharp needs to be kept away for at least 72 hours.

I know Law. He uses SOS as a comparison for just about every coach who came behind him.

We wore the putrid all-orange Clemson look throughout the 1980s. Pell brought it with him and Hall decided not to change when Pell was fired in '84. I don't know about you, but I hated it. We're the orange and blue Florida Gators, not some paid advertisement for fruit that grows on trees.

Spurrier would have none of fake grass or looking like Clemson. He was determined to restore dignity and tradition to the program. He had the university tear up Florida Field and we went back to the traditional blue jerseys. We became winners again, doing so with the potent vertical passing game so many of us came to associate Florida football with.

What Mullen's doing makes sense from a recruiting standpoint, but the (no pun) optics are questionable in the face of a slow recruiting start. The uni talk smacks of hollow gimmickry.

Law and many others are the proverbial state of Missouri. You're gonna have to prove it to them on the field before they jump on the bandwagon. When you think about it, isn't that the way it should be?

Thank you 78!. I will return to the games if my view of Cousin Eddie is proven wrong. Whether we win 3, 6, 8 or 12 games, unless Cousin Eddie shows me he can manage a game (not his strength), the quality of play improves, process and fundamentals appear, I will root from afar.

I am at the top of that list OX and the answer is YES. If Cousin Eddie proves our opinion of him wrong, we will admit it! But winning 9 games the way Butters won 9 games does not count. Worst 9 win teams I have ever seen. The entire process is what we care about!

Fact is the offseason is too long for the fans and even longer for our win-starved fans, who have already had half a year to contemplate and regurgitate a coaching change that came about only after we whiffed on the two biggest free agents on the market. It felt like falling off the edge of a cliff.

Many don't like what they see.

I pick on my buddy Law again. I've seen his emotions evolve from shock to grief to bargaining to acceptance and back to anger. Mainly I think he's frustrated. He disliked Mullen going in, and in spite of his love for his alma mater, he can't escape the power of his emotions or his disappointment over another read option regime. He's a vertical passing guy.

I think we all need to stop thinking and start seeing. One small problem. It's three months to opening kickoff and we're all stuck in this room together. You can only post so many volleyball threads or Avalon prediction busts.

What are we going to talk about over the next 90 days that doesn't lead to emotions spilling over?

Yes, I think this year is a throwaway. I dont expect anyone can salvage much w what he was handed.

Winning 9 or 10 games with what he was left is how much bigger accomplishment. Butters was left a strong defense and some offensive pieces. Mullinz was left a pair of CBs and a rush end hybrid.

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised at the product on the field this year. Not world beaters, but a disciplined, stronger team. I think we're done being embarrassed out there.

He did more with less.

The phrase everyone wants to hear by the end of the season.

Why you lumping me in with the Mullen haters? I’ve said numerous times we should give him 4-5 years because of the sh*t show he was handed. I’m simply keeping my immediate expectations low because I know what he’s got to work with. It’ll be great if he’s able to make a drastic turnaround in year one, but I don’t think Saban could win 8 games with this roster. Why would I saddle Mullen with unrealistic expectations?

I believe in the Urban Meyer way of building programs, and no one has more first-hand experience seeing it than Mullen, as he was there for Bowling Green and Utah. The concentration on S&C and special teams, just as two examples, are so desperately needed here.

If only he was as good of a coach as Meyer......

We’re in the septic tank.
Such yellow manure. Who is better? Missouri? Kentucky? Vandy? Tennessee? Even LSU and FSU are extremely beatable this season.

You guys act like our recruiting classes the last few years were ranked in the 50's or something. They were down classes FOR UF, but they weren't horrific classes compared to other teams on the schedule.

:rolleyes3:

If you really believe that, there's certainly no reason to even bother watching the games.
I suffered through the 70s and 80s, Zook, Mushchamp and Mac. I can endure another year.
Look, I’m just keeping it real. Our OL sucks, our depth on defense is poor up the middle and we still have no QB unless a true freshman emerges. That’s not a recipe for success. I just want to see improvement and recruiting to pick up. Brighter days are ahead, but we’re not outta the woods yet.
