I voted for Franks to start week 1. But after all the things we've heard and seen at practice, I'm starting to think it's going to be Trask starting week 1. I'm betting that they both play though. So we'll be able to see with our own eyes which one sucks less in this offense. We'll probably see Jones in the 3rd or 4th qtr too. We won't be able to tell much from the first game as we all know.

RiverRat -"hope D.M. comes in and shuts all the Nay\sayers in here the Hell up. In fact i think he's going to do Great at Fl."

I hope you're right and we can finally be happy with gator football again. But there's a reason that people have **** to talk about Mullen and the program overall. The pumpers are the ones that can shut the hell up until somebody shows real proof that there's improvement.

I’ll be the first one to start pumping when pumping is indicated. I was a huge pumper from 1990 to 2009.

No system works without superior talent.

Again, why are we expecting Mullen to do the impossible? It would be different if he were like Scott Frost and not playing SEC teams every week. Then his system would matter more.

Doesn't matter how good you can coach at schools like Vandy, Kentucky, Miss St etc...

You'll always be less talented than your contemporaries.

You need to be at a place like Utah or Memphis or UCF, where you won't be over powered from a talent perspective against your opponents.

There's a reason why nobody runs the read option in the NFL. Scheme matters. Also, Utah plays in a power 5 conference against the likes of Washington, Oregon, USC, etc. Don' think they're looking to install a flawed scheme anytime soon.

I'm confused. You would take the coach who's worse?

Stop comparing apples to oranges. The SECe has been the laughingstock of college football for quite some time. It's definitely not comparable what Mullen did in the WEST compared to what Stoops has done in the EAST.
The SEC east has been the laughingstock of college football for quite some time? Seriously, that's absurd. I'm currently watching he Wyoming/New Mexico State game and the SEC east is a laughingstock? Get some perspective dude. BTW, the last time I checked, Mullen Stoops and I have won the same number of SEC championships So yeah, seems like apples and apples to me.

I meant of power 5 conferences.
Of course you knew that, but you'll pretend not to just to support your wreak point.

All I do is follow college football. And the SECe has been the laughingstock. They've been routinely described as the weakest power 5 division.

I get what you're saying.

Take Mac for example. He won 2 division titles in the EAST and no one cared. If he'd had won the WEST twice he'd be hailed as a hero.

My point being that the east has been severely out played by the west.

I can't talk to people who are being selectively ignorant.

Clearly Utah just moved to a power 5.
I'm using them as an example because Urban found success there... Before they were power 5.

Urban wouldn't be urban if he went to Vandy instead of Utah.
You don't win at sub standard schools in a power conference. You win by going to a lower conference.

I think it's more the fact he took a bad SEC west team and made them relevant. None of us thought when he took the Mississippi State job he would have any success.

If you told me that he would be there 9 years and told me to guess his winning SEC seasons and top 25 matchup records and that stuff I wouldn't have guessed it could have been that mediocre even at MSU but I still am hoping he clicks here and gets the recruiting going.

I'll never shut the hell up in supporting Mullens or any Fl Coach in a positive manner when he hasn't even coached a game here as a head Coach. What good is all the negativity going to do? Its like a skin cancer that needs to be cut out.

Crouch was a senior of a team that was playing for the national championship, Rex was a sophomore of a 2 loss team that should've been a no loss team playing for the championship. Many voters back then automatically wouldn't vote an underclassmen 1st for some reason. I'm sure Rex wasn't the 1st player penalized in the Heisman voting because he was an underclassmen.

He also was battling for votes against Ken Dorsey. Voters in the SE were split amongst those while middle America to the west coast were all voting for Crouch...that ultimately is what did him in

Relevant to what? The went 4-4 in the SEC once. He had josing seasons every other year.

Almost all of his wins are against directional schools and kintucky. His "success" is mostly convincing the AD to never play anyone OOC and instead playing 4 powder puffs usually lined up in Sept.
