I don't think this game means a lot either just like the 2014 and 2015 games didn't mean much for the offense anyway. Heck didn't we roll up over 600 yards in those games. If we roll KY and its not just due to turnovers I will have more faith.
Remember 2014 when Roper came in? We lit it up in the first game and most of us thought we were on the way to better offensive performances. That was the first thought that came to my mind as I watched the 4th quarter last night......All that being said though we have MUCH better skill position players surrounding Franks than Driskel ever had here and at least a marginally better offensive line. I'm certainly not going to make excuses for Driskel's subpar play that year but he had a mess of an offensive line and the WR's were so bad that I can't even remember who they were except the guy who now plays DB for the Redskins.....

That was my thought exactly. We should beat these kind of teams like that. We could have scored a 100. It was a great first step and I believe it will carry over to Kentucky. Some nice throws by Franks and that RB Pierce, he's an animal. Scarlett seemed to be the weak link.
The other team loaded up to stop the run assuming Franks would screw up passing. Bad decision.

As the opposing defense wore down the blocking improved not Scarlett's fault. Loading up to stop him opened up the pass.

That community college team was in no position to make “right” or “wrong” game decisions. They were in the Swamp to get their azzes kicked and collect their big paycheck. Nothing more. Nothing less.

When was the last time we didn't bytch about play calling? 2009? Damn that was refreshing.
When was the last time we actually saw a QB get better?

I was hesitant about Mullen. Until we broke out in the 2006 SECCG we were a pedestrian offense and I expected as much from Mullen going forward. I wasn't expecting to have much fun watching us but Mullen surprised me last night. We will see what happens going forward but I'm looking forward to the next game for the first time in a long time. One might even say that I'm "buzzing".

And Dan feels like he belongs here. Urban Lyer's "top of the mountain" BS never rang true. Dawg**** never belonged and that ****ing carpet bagger was a fish out of water. Dan gets us and at 46 here's hoping he's successful and stays for a long time. That jump pass was the most positive omen I've seen in a decade.

I was tempted to give us an A but obviously the Oline needs some work. Franks surprised but he too has a ways to go. But it looks like we're gonna have some playmakers. When was the last time we had a marquee player? I can't remember. I'm hoping someone breaks out and becomes the face of the program.

But back to play calling. It became obvious as the game went on what Mullen was doing with Franks but I don't think any of us expected that. It gives me hope that Mullen can actually game plan and I can't wait to see how it plays out.

I got a fever, and the only prescription is more Dameon Pierce. I think he should get a shot at starting. There is something about freshman running backs that you can't seem to coach. Like Davis last year, I think there is just a level of not overthinking things and just running with a clearer mind. Seeing the hole, hitting it, and then using your athleticism to make things happen seemingly occurs more with the freshmen then sophomores and even juniors. Now, I can't speak to his pass pro ability, but get this man some more touches and for the love of god do not take him off of kick coverage. That young man about arranged a meeting between the returner and his creator.

You know what? That was pretty kewl. And yet, we need to continue to grow and work on the preparation piece during the weeks coming up. Maybe we sold a little bit more popcorn last night. This is a pretty cool bunch of Gators, now.

Seeing not one, but two blocked kicks again, along with intensity on the coverage teams, made me forget how fun that was.

They may be terrible but it’s been years since we’ve beaten teams like this the way we’re supposed to. Too many times over the last 4-5 years we’ve let these teams stay in the game through the 4th quarter. We’re moving in the right direction and this is definitely a fun product to watch! If the was Mac we would’ve went out there and ran the ball all night and tried not to lose instead of trying to win. Go Gators!
Mac beat nmsu 61-13 and would've done the same thing. This game told us nothing

Damien is that kind of true freshman that fills a blank for a turning around program. Can anyone point out other newcomers who might very well contribute very well?
Such guys impress and push their upperclassmen teammates.Go new Gators.
