There are a lot of people that want in and we do have to be selective. One 4* is not the same as another 4*. We do have to actually evaluate them . Just because a guy is very good for his 7x7 team that does not mean he will be good in the SEC. There are actually people nowadays that look at things like injury history in HS.

@Marianna-FL_Gator can you confirm? BTW, did you make it through the storm ok?

The next Cali kid we land that contributes will be the first.

Lemmens
Karl Moore
Josh Shaw

And the ultimate Cali 5 star equals 3 star Ronald Powell, mr. too slow to be a lineman and too weak to be a DL... just let me blitz.

Not that I recommend wasting time in cali, but if a 5* CB wants to join our class this year, I’m all in favor of keeping the lines of communication open.

If only the staff had been smart enough to get him in his natural position.

I’ll take Steele all day every day and twice on Sundays. As long as we don’t mess it up he’s a Gator.

I’ll also take Thibodeaux in a heart beat. Kid is a beast off the edge. If we can hit it out of the park next week I think we have a chance. Sell him on being the building block for Florida’s next great run, the center piece ala Tebow and Harvin, and playing in the SEC which is what he wants

Not too worried. They've got 7 who will carry over on their roster and Billingsly committed for 2019.

I'll be honest w/ you; I'm tired of Zipperer. I'd like to have him, because he's a blue-chip and a solid player....but not a position of need. I'm just put off by his constant "hey look at me" attention-whore act. Just commit already (to us or elsewhere).

Agreed, but we said the same about Matt Elam. So long as these pre-madonnas (with talent) are willing to work their butts off once they sign, I’ll take ‘em!

The % primadonnas that can play like Elam are few. So this kid will have to be the 2nd coming of Hernandez given his attitude.

247 has a story on Chris Steele's teammates predictions on where he'll go, 5 of 7 say UF. One, who is committed to Oregon, predicts (shocker....) Oregon. And one committed to USC predicts....(another shocker) USC.

I'd really love to get this kid. He'd be a day 1 contributor next year (along w/ Elam if he commits), which allows Kimbrough and Hill to redshirt (Kimbrough needs 10 pounds and Hill has an ACL).

The only recruiting I've been following is this thread and this is what I have in addition to the 15 we have committed:
Rush: Lloyd Summerall 4* Gators 67%
RB: Nay'quon Wright 4* Gators 92%
TE: Keon Zipperer 4* Gators 85%
OL: Kamaar Bell 4* Gators 100%
DB: Kaiir Elam 4* Gators 92%

That's not a bad 20.

Plus guys that have been mentioned as in the mix:

DL: Derek Hunter 4* FSU UGA 22%
3* Star: Aaron Beasely UT
4* DB Chris Steel decommitted from USC
4* RB Mark Anthony Richards CB Miami
3* CB Marcus Banks deocmitt LSU
5* DE Kayvon Thibodeaux
5* WR Ford out of Cali.
4* SDE Nathan Pickering
5* DT Georgia commit Travon Walker
4* WDE Khris Bogle Miami
4* CB Trent McDuffie

We may finish second with all these guys but at least we are aiming high.
I don't know. Call it youthful exuberance but I'm holding my breath for a top 10 class. If we win out maybe we have a shot.

Much respect to BMF and CGgater but Matt Elam was no primadonna. He was 17 and making the biggest decision of his young (and very tough) life. He did not grow up longing to play for the Gators. He met Urban as a young kid and wanted to play for him. There was a lot of confusion for him at the time. He also had an older brother who had been through the recruiting game himself and was an NFL player. He was educated on both sides of the game and wanted to make sure he made the best decision for himself.

He was listed as the #1 player in the freakin country and he was never even the #1 end on our team. And too slow to be a LB.

He had some numbers, sacks. Just not the #1 player by any stetch of the imagination. He was Polite-lite. Cali 5 star= 3star. He was a solid upper 3 star.

Does he look as good as Ronald Powell did against Cali opponents?

I will probably be happy if we land them just bc of the momentum.

I'd be a lot MORE happy if we didn't have 1 kid in the Florida top 50.
