We need to find a new sales pitch. I'm tired of hearing about this "early playing time" pitch after we get our ass beat. It never works.

Yeah I don't see how that pitch work when you are basically forcing Jones to redshirt at Qb. If I was a player and he said son you could come to UF and play early, I'd say then why are you not letting Jones play when he was the best looking Qb in the spring game and Frank's has looked terrible. Instead all you tell reporters is you don't want to burn his red shirt.

Now if you played Jones it would seem more realistic but he won't.

Watch his presser from Monday. He thoroughly explained this topic. It's not really about the redshirt. He says that he doesn't want to throw him to the wolves when he's not ready. Also said that's part of the problem with Franks. He was forced to play under a crappy coaching staff and they pretty much ruined him.

Like you, I think holding him back to preserve a redshirt is ridiculous. But if he's doing it for the above stated reasons, I agree. We've had a "Decade of Death" at the QB position. And the sad thing is most of them could've been decent QBs if they had adequate coaching and if they weren't rushed to play out of panic by the coaching staff.

There's a chance EJ comes in, light it up and never look back. But what if he comes in, struggles behind this atrocious offensive line, loses his confidence and never develops because of it? It's really not worth the risk during a lost season. He gets to play in 4 games. You give him spot duty in 2 more games to build his confidence going into the offseason. And hopefully we see a confident, well-prepared EJ in the Spring Game.

I am all for making a change at the QB position, but what spring game were you watching? He looked just average, and very green / shaky.

While I don’t understand what’s holding up EJ, that’s really not the sole measuring stick. Trey Dean has gotten a TON of PT, DP has gotten some reps despite 2 upper classmen ahead of him and there are others. So the opportunity is there, but kids gotta earn it.

Maybe hes not ready? Perhaps if our OL was doing well and our running game was on a level that would help a young QB that CDM would feel more comfortable throwing a freshman QB out there ....

That’s just crazy talk. Many experts here have clearly pointed out that DM is too stubborn to put the best QB on the field.

A big part of the problem is the never ending flipflopoing of offensive scheme. Dwagtard went from spread to 1950s Run N Punt to spread again. McSharkstain with his Run N Dink, and now option spread.

It was almost like Champ never knew offense was apart of football. He came here without a modicum of offensive understanding. You'd think that a guy that spends all of his time breaking down offensive tape would have a clue as to what would work.

Obviously that's sarcasm, but Mullen continuing to trot Franks back on the field after he was hitting at less than 30% was asinine. Mullen said it himself in the press conference, the "insanity" definition. Then why did he keep trotting Franks out? It was obvious the kid needed to be pulled, the game was over, we had no chance at a comeback, the defense had given up....and yet, here comes Franks - again and again. Mullen had his McElwain/Muschamp moment in this game. The team tanked it. The coaches didn't prepare properly? Who knows what happened? But getting blown out by a middling Missouri team with significantly less talented isn't a good look for any coach at UF.

Yes, this happens when you change coaches every three years, and will continue if we continue to change coaches...

Is being the best QB in the spring game like being the tallest midget??

If we continue to hire shyt coaches, it will continue to happen.

but the bigger point is that no one in our athletic department seems to have a fccking clue about football. they don't seem to even understand what Florida football is. Oklahoma, Texas, BYU, Trailerbammer, they all know what their brand of football is and they hire a coach that understands it and plays it.

We don't. Lets Be Bama, lets be Ray Goof, lets be Duke, lets be Bammer part 2.

It's like we've been trying hard to run away from SOS and Florida football in order to prove that Fooley was more important than SOS.

Want to win? Want to grab Florida recruits? Start playing Florida football again.

Maybe next coach.

Unless Mullen bangs a co-ed on Fuchs desk, he likely ain't going anywhere for at least 5 seasons. He needs to flip this roster and keep moving forward; landing better recruiting classes each cycle, getting "his" players in place, shuffle the coaching staff (at least 2 changes this off-season), stop getting blown out by the Missouri's on our schedule, and most importantly, find a damn QB.

I cant believe we’re talking about changing coaches. This man was handed a 4 win team and may dbl that total in his first year. Smh

I agree. That's why I posted that. He's not getting fired anytime soon. Most of us 'get it'. I posted that as a clarification for the comment above my post.
