Well, that sucks. We're getting kinda in that dangerously thin spot at QB again...

Del Taco and Trash should be back by then...still think we will get Zaire once Sankey relents on refusing to change SEC rules

The podcast I watched, the guys said they didn't feel too confident the rule will be changed. We'll see I guess. If the SEC doesn't change the grad transfer rule, we'll be stuck with Franks, Toney who can't throw, and 2 post surgery noodle arm wash outs. Not good.

Hope he heals well and wish him a speedy recovery.

Again, I doubt he ever sees meaningful game day snaps here.

He was behind before...this won't help.

Kid was recruited as a camp arm, he is a camp arm. Hope he gets better.

This is NFL talk. Players are recruited to play. Just because mediots came up with such terminology to try to distill there stories to one or two players for NFL fans, does not mean it is true. Players are recruited to play and players want to compete whether some mediot or fan calls them a number 1 or a camp arm or any such nonsense.

Would be the smart thing to do. Then at least we could recruit a kid who maybe actually played for his HS team
You do know we have been under the 85 limit for 10 years now and we can recruit any QB we want, our coaches are just to lazy or incompetent to do it.

No doubt. Mac thought he got one by on 127 other schools. Yeah right.

What is the time frame for recovering from this type of surgery?

Hopefully it's quick and he can participate in team workouts over the summer.

It's going to be a long off-season....
I don't know how bad his is, but I do know that I have a small meniscus tear that I just live with. They didn't deem it bad enough to require surgery so it would have been considered elective therefore insurance wouldn't cover. It isn't too bad, but it will randomly buckle. That being said I can't imagine it being a long recovery. Maybe 6 weeks.

We also heard Treon is great...

Just saying, you can't always take what the players/coaches say. You think when asked they are going to be like "yeah, he sucks"

How about we use our eyes. There isn't a whole lot that can be taken from spring games, but as soon as we saw him play LAST YEAR in the spring game, it was clear that the kid has a ton of the tangibles. He's got a very live arm, nice release, good accuracy and is pretty fleet footed to boot. Just because your expectations for our FB program haven't been met doesn't mean you have to be mean to some (by all accounts) very nice young man who just doesn't have enough confidence to beat out the 4-star QB. ...but could still win the job or take over one day.

Knew something wasn't right when he didn't have 4 TDs in the first half.....

That is very funny. I did think he was as good as Franks when running with the 1s. Mac had the decked stacked in Franks favor and as you can see, he's wild with the short passes. He reminds me a little of Driskel, God forbid (may it never be!)

I'm not sure why some posters are so vitriolic towards Trask. Should we start maligning every player on our team that isn't good enough to be a starter?
Pretty sure that's already going on.

2 to 4 months for full recovery. Took me 6+ months a few years ago, but I'm :eek:ld man:.

Why would he stack the deck against Trask? Could You imagine how kewl he would be if he plucked some back up with no scholie offers and turned him into an SEC starter? Mac would forever be the QB whisperer. You'd think he would get every opportunity to shine.

Same reason the Spring Game in 2015 was stacked for Grier and in 2016 stacked for LDR. It's not a practice, it's a marketing tool. Nothing more, nothing less.

So Franks beat out an injured Trask
And it was close?

It could have been Joe Montanna vs Skylar Morningwood, and Butters would be telling us it was close all they way up through the first few games.
