Jimbo has GREATLY underperformed with the talent he’s had. Probably more than any coach out there not named Mushchamp. Other than with Rapeis, he hasn’t had results that matched the recruiting rankings he’s had. He’s Gene Chizik with some recruiting skills...a one hit wonder with a special QB.
you have got to be trolling or brain dead. Chizik is 19-19 without Cam. JF is 56-22 without jameis. You just compared jimbo to wm. His two best classes in 11&12 went 48-7 won a nc and 2 acc titles. So the guy who recruited and coached jameis doesn't get credit for recruiting and coaching jameis? He won the acc with EJ manuel for Christ's sake and turned him and Christian ponder into 1st rd picks. That's like saying meyer was an average coach without tebow/harvin and only won his 2 NCs here because of them. Where do you guys come up with this garbage?

This is good to see, he's been leaning Clemson (after leaning our way for a while), EJ's cousin:

I don't believe they are actually cousins...close friends with the same last name and their mom's are super close and so they call each other cousin. At least that is what was stated on 247

Speaking of recruiting OL's:

Mullen discusses difficulties recruiting offensive linemen

https://247sports.com/college/flori...ulties-recruiting-offensive-linemen-118623396

Florida’s offensive line in 2017 was one of the biggest issues on a team that finished the season 4-7. There has been some consternation amongst Florida faithful about the Gators’ recruiting efforts on the offensive line in recent years as well.

During new head coach Dan Mullen’s speech to the Broward County Gator Club, he was asked about Florida’s recruitment of highly ranked offensive line targets, and how few the Gators have been able to land. Mullen admitted, the offensive line position is very hard to evaluate for everyone.

“Offensive line is one of those you have to do a great job evaluating in recruiting,” Mullen opened. “That is one position where you are really projecting what this person is going to look like down the road. Maybe there is somebody that is small that’s going to get big, maybe there’s somebody that’s really big that’s going to get smaller and leaned up. You know, maybe there is somebody athletically, they have a great, tremendous feet, they can bend, they haven’t grown into their body yet.”

Physical development is only one variable. Mullen pointed out another when watching a prospect’s game film.

“It’s one of the most important positions, and harder positions, to evaluate, because you watch film sometimes, and I don’t care where you are, you don’t always know what they are being asked to do. Our guys will be doing different things than what they are doing now. I think that is a huge part evaluating and recruiting offensive linemen of what they are going to become. I don’t know if it’s Florida, it’s everywhere.”

Mullen also pointed out how rare it is to find a person with the physical traits to be an elite offensive lineman right away.

“A five-star offensive lineman is going to be somebody that’s probably 6-foot-5 to 6-foot-6, 315 pounds, and is really athletic. Okay, genetically, there’s not a lot of those. I mean, if you’re 6-foot-6, 315 [pounds] and a phenomenal athlete, stand up.”

That garnered a laugh from the crowd as, you would guess, no one stood up matching those measurements.

“Just pure numbers of genetics, it’s a hard thing to find guys that can do that. That means you have to do a great job of evaluating what they can be.”

The Florida Gators are looking to sign five offensive linemen in the 2019 recruiting class. That is even after inking four in the 2018 class. The Gators currently have two offensive tackles commit in the 2019 class with Wardrick Wilson of Miami (Fla.) Doral Academy Charter and Ethan White of Clearwater (Fla.) Superior Collegiate Academy. Some of Florida’s top remaining offensive line targets include Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star offensive tackle Evan Neal, Hogansville (Ga.) Callaway four-star offensive guard Keiondre Jones, Brunswick (Ga.) four-star offensive tackle Warren McClendon, Buford (Ga.) three-star offensive guard Riley Simonds, Tampa (Fla.) Plant offensive guard William Putnam and others.

Five must-win in-state recruiting battles for UF

https://247sports.com/college/flori...ruiting-battles-for-UF-118596328/#118596328_5

4-STAR CB KAIIR ELAM
The Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Benjamin School star is looking to take his recruitment deep into the cycle as he gives Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State, Stanford as well as Florida and others a close look. However, Florida has a big need at cornerback in the recruiting class, and the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Elam could certain help fill that void. In addition, Elam is the nephew of former Florida All-American safety Matt Elam, so the connection to the program is strong. It is still early in this recruitment, but the Gators are in a solid position currently and look to wrap this one up by signing day.

4-STAR WDE LLOYD SUMMERALL
Florida has roared towards the top of this recruitment, as the Auburndale (Fla.) product has been impressed with the Gators’ new 3-4 defensive scheme that would have him playing a hybrid outside linebacker spot. The track record of putting players in the NFL by both defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and defensive line coach Sal Sunseri has also caught the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Summerall’s attention as well. The Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes are also in the hunt to land Summerall’s commitment. Ultimately, not many see Summerall leaving the Sunshine State to play his college ball.

4-STAR SDE DERICK HUNTER
The Ft. Myers (Fla.) Dunbar product has visited Florida numerous times this offseason, and the 6-foot-4, 275-pound Hunter has given the Gators rave reviews after each trip. Hunter is another that plans to take his recruitment deep into the cycle before making his choice, and several other schools still remain in the picture. The Georgia Bulldogs are probably considered the biggest threat to swipe Hunter from the Gators at this time, but the Penn State Nittany Lions, Florida State Seminoles, and Miami Hurricanes also remain in the hunt. Florida is looking to retool its defensive line, and beating Georgia and others for this talented defender would help solve that issue.

5-STAR RB TREY SANDERS
Florida surged into the mix to land the former Alabama commit after the Gators were able to get the Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy star on campus multiple times this spring. The Gators also added Sanders’ older brother, junior college linebacker Umstead Sanders, to the roster as a preferred walk-on, which is also helping Florida’s chances. However, some close to the Crimson Tide program feel Alabama can pull Sanders back in the mix. Then programs like the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs remain within striking distance as well. Sanders plans to take his five official visits before announcing a decision late in the fall. That Gators are looking to add a game-changer type of back to the roster like Sanders.

4-STAR DB TYRIQUE STEVENSON
The Miami (Fla.) Southridge standout was previously committed to Florida, and the Gators remain in the mix after getting the 6-foot, 190-pound Stevenson on campus a couple times during the spring. Stevenson still calls Florida his ‘dream school’ as well. However, the hometown Miami Hurricanes continue to get Stevenson on campus and are building a strong relationship with the versatile defensive back. The Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs are also serious threats to land his pledge as well. The Gators are looking to plug an instant impact player in at safety, and they feel Stevenson is the player that can do just that.

This ain't good...

Not sure what to make of it. He's predicted to UF or Miami. Alabama is pushing him, but they already have a TE commit. He and Billingsley would be a great TE class. He's probably being cute, playing games.

This will be a big fail if so. We're in jeopardy of only getting 3 or 4 of the top 50 Florida HS kids. That's just bad.

There's been some talk for a while about Zipperer wanting to leave the state. Not surprised, but also not happy we might be letting another in-state escape.

This is from 247's board:

Quick update on OL target Jonah Tauanu'u

Jonah and his mother will be taking an unofficial visit to Florida June 15-17. Mom said they were going to make it an official visit but decided to save those for the fall and the plan is to take some unofficial visits this spring/summer and then go back for official visits to the schools they like. This is one of those rare instances with a Polynesian family where mom actually prefers Jonah to leave home and not play for the local school.
