There is a reason this guy is stuck in a basement looking at tissues under a microscope.

I laughed so hard at this post. My stomach hurts. But what jhbyrd said is true. Mac won in year 1. Was it pretty? Nope. Was it the worst team in the history of the SEC to win a division title? Yep. But Grier was running his system and they won. Technically jhbyrd is correct.

I just give Mac his due for putting in a brand new system and winning in year one when the consensus was he would fail.
You keep saying this and it has no basis in reality. Where the hell was the "consensus" that he would fail? The national media lauded the move - I could pull up a dozen puff-piece articles right now. Hell, Robbie Andreu said that Mac would bring the Spurrier days back. While a lot of the fans were a little skeptical, for the most part we welcomed him and and gave him a chance. I thought he was weird and he certainly wasn't my choice, but I wasn't convinced from the beginning that he would fail.

There is absolutely no truth that there was a "consensus" that he would fail.

I could be wrong, but I do not remember anyone predicting we would win the East in 2015.

Is that what he means by fail? Winning the east?

We won the east and still failed miserably. It was an awful season with unwatchable football.

Eff that guy.

Yeah I think that is what he means. In 2015 we “won” the East when we weren’t supposed to. For example:

https://athlonsports.com/college-football/top-25/florida-gators-2015-preview-and-prediction

https://www.rollbamaroll.com/2015/8/20/9181975/predicting-2015-sec-football-season-florida-gators

McElwain’s team won more games than they were supposed to. Consensus said we were going to win somewhere between 6 to 8 games. So, I think jhbyrd is correct in his analysis. McElwain got SECCOY because no one expected Florida to even contend for the East and his team actually won it.

4th place projection for UF in the East is failure to me and most posters here.

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/sec-media-predicts-2015-order-of-finish/

Media in link above picked Mac to finish 5th in the East in his year 1:

4. South Carolina (1), 830 points
5. Florida (1), 768 points
6. Kentucky (1), 534 points
7. Vanderbilt, 243 points

"Here’s the entire predicted order of finish, according to the media:

2. Alabama, 80 points
3. Georgia, 28 points
4. LSU, 9 points
T5. Ole Miss, 3 points
T5. Arkansas, 3 points
T7. Texas A&M, 2 points
T7. Tennessee, 2 points

And it's also true that Foley was the one who handed the contract to sign to Urban Meyer. Hence Jason's sole purpose as a poster, to find a meaningless and irrefutable angle and position it as the crux of a larger argument.

We're all idiots for willingly engaging this moron. Do yourself a favor and just stop.
