I think TN and FL are pretty evenly matched, so we'll see how we do with the noise. It's obvious, Franks is going to get the full Monte of opportunity. I'd like to see Trask get a shot but if he can't beat Franks out, he couldn't be much of a prize, unless Mullen is just blind and stupid. If Franks actually has it between the ears, though, I'll be pleasantly surprized.
Consider this, the alleged greatest coach in NFL Bill Belicheat had Tom Brady on his roster with the Pats, and Bledsoe still started. The only way Brady got on the field was the Jets knocked Bledsoe out of the game. The rest is history. Luck be a lady.

I think that's what you take from this win. We still have all the issues we had last week -- spotty quarterback play, inconsistent blocking, poor tackling, missed assignments by the secondary, not the intensity that I would like to see on the DL -- but you can see leaders being formed and the overall play improving.

ST play was lights out.

We're gonna struggle at Neyland. Don't care. Only care about how we are in late November.

IT'S GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR.

The only good thing about having the flu since the season started is that I've watched all the games sober.….were still the same hot mess that we were last week and last season for that matter and all it's going to take to prove it is being put in front of a team with a pulse.

Oh please. We were in their backfield every damn play. That QB is very mentally tough and was able to hit short throws for first downs all day, but it never got them anywhere. CSU couldn't run the football at all. The tackling was solid, absolutely nothing like last week.

You're an idiot, but we already knew that.

If we beat UT you're getting banned for life. If we lose to UT I'll only ban you for a year.
Dude I counted multiple missed tackles on the same play...there were probably well over 20 missed tackles yesterday, Franks looked like an abortion....again, We won on breakaway plays alone.....that doesn't happen against even average teams...AND our players still looked smaller than CSU's. Sorry I come from the Land of Truth...

No one said we were fixed. The message was that the seeds of improvement have been laid and that growth is slowly beginning to surface. We have a loooooong way to go.

Football is three wheels. Last year we road on half a wheel. This year we've got a full one, special teams. That alone amounts to improvement.

You don't beat even average teams without a sustainable offense and a sustainable defense.....we have neither and our players cannot physically assert themselves against even average teams as we found out last week. We won't be seeing the likes of Charleston Southern or CSU again for the next long 7 weeks....

Thus why anywhere from 5-7 to 7-5 is our likely ceiling. Make no mistake. This ship ain't sailing anywhere meaningful until we find a QB and put together a solid recruiting class.

I agree with that for the most part. We need a top 5 recruiting class in the worst sort of way. I'm not taking shots at our current players but we are of average size and below average talent level compared to the rest of our conference and that has to change to even get back to being a solid 8 or 9 win team IMO....

I don’t think anyone would disagree. But, it’s game 3 of a new coaching staff that is working with less than stellar players that are on campus. This season is about whether the kids on campus buy-in to what DM and coaches are teaching and whether they improve. That is then something the team can build upon. We all see the obvious of what we have and what we need. We won’t see new players until next season. Find ways to enjoy this season by focusing on those little things that we’d like to see from this team.

Better effort, but against a much lesser opponent. Tackling better, and Joseph played much better but I cant believe he is 250, maybe 230

Kick coverage, brrrr, steill need some work there

Franks has played poorly in all 3 games but Trask is likely far worse. It is what it is.
Maybe he is, maybe he is not. But if Franks gets injured, you want your backup QB to have more game experience than garbage time. That's all!

What team places their backup QB in the game just to gauge his mettle and especially when it’s not needed? Please name one.

Well, I only watch the Gators so none! :)

But if Franks gets injured, you would be singing a different tune, blasting Mullen for not getting the back up QB ready. Part of getting him ready is to give him some meaningful snaps.

Not really. That’s what practice is for and that mop up time at the end of the game. We have to trust DM knows what he’s doing. His record with QBs indicates he does. We need a new QB, but I don’t think he’s on campus. That means we are a few years away.

Agree with this.....for all the great work of our ST’s we do need to tighten down coverage.

Special teams are indeed special again. Anything more than that is just too early to say with too little data.
