On the visits topic for committed prospects, I think we underestimate the stress level the kids have about having a spot in a recruiting class until it is signing day and they ink the deal. Just this weekend, the father of a Power 5 baseball commit was explaining his and his kids concern about any number of things that can change until it can't. They are very much feeling wanted, but all of it also feels like "for now". Meaning, the school is still recruiting and if the school got 4 more higher rated guys, then he may not have a spot. They are very much balancing that constant unknown, even when publicly committed, with ideas of other visits and entertaining other coaches as a backstop.
For someone like Dabo, or certainly Mack at Texas, you have to honor those early commits to make it work. Mack famously did and then starting getting criticized (somewhat rightly) for locking in on older, often re-classified kids who were monsters their Sophomore and Junior years, but less so compared to peers their senior years and then didn't seem like 5 stars once on campus. Texas during that era was nearly filled up in their class by the end of summer and there was not even an early signing period.
The early signing period, and moreso, the transfer portal makes some of even good 4 stars have far greater uncertainty. Yes, DJ, knows he has a spot. But, this is still all pretty stressful for many others.
