Bama makes the playoff

Conferences ain't giving up the cash cow of championship games so it will never happen. They'll never vote for it.
The only viable solution has to keep those games. Which means adding an 8 team playoff the following week. Which means more $$$$. Which means it is the most likely thing to happen if anything happens. You can debate how those 8 teams are chosen.

Or they could make the playoff just as lucrative or even more so than the current CGs. Nobody is gonna turn down more money.

Perhaps last year had some influence over this. Ohio State didn't win the big 10 last year and made the playoff. Then got blasted by Clemson. Ohio State has nothing to b*tch about.
