DBs are certainly important. We need to recruit talented DBs and safety's to have depth. There is the occasional WR who can switch to DB and make plays, but that is not the norm. The problem is when we focus recruiting on any one area and neglect it on another. That is what happened with Chump.

The DBU legacy goes back to guys like Joe Haden and Janoris Jenkins (for his freshman year), Major White and Ahmad Black. Don't tell me that DBs don't help you win championships. Did you see Ahmad Black's interception in the 08 title game? That was an amazing interception and key to us winning that game. You need to be a well rounded team and that means having players at all positions.

The DBs attitudes are not great and I think they were trying too hard to make big plays in the second half and got burned, but in reality... you need the whole D working together. Stopping the run, putting pressure on the QB and making it hard to find open receivers. It's a team game... no one unit is more important than any other.

Honestly, outside of our starters do we have any DBs? McWilliams? Garnder is going to be good....but we DO need to sign a few DBs in this class. Just another area that this staff has dropped the ball in recruiting.
Theres a HUGE dropoff from Tabor/Wilson. Our CB depth isn't what it use to be and we have to stock up in this class. Williamson is not there...Burnett is a Scout team player/Special teams guy...Putu is ok but not there yet... Gardner is a Nickel/Safety. We need about 4 highly rated CB's and a top tier Safety in this class.

McWilliams is the true freshman who got hurt in camp - he's out for the year.
Williamson (RS freshman) is currently a backup CB, along with Putu.
Gardner seems versatile and could play any of the DB positions.
Other than Gardner, all of our current underclass DBs are 3*. :sadnanner:
Though we do have some good CBs committed with Blades and Wilson2 (both 4*) and Shawn Davis (3*, likely to be a 4* in the end).
We would benefit from having Q back for next year, but he's probably gone.

Stricklin should be "proactive" by sending all NFL scouts video of our CBs & Ss from
this UT game. That way we lose none of them next year.

Well, that was my point....and I got a "dislike" from our know-it-all lawyer friend for it!
