I never thought this guy would make an nfl team, much less start for one. I know, it is the bungles. Still, he somehow got that start over the other o-linemen on the team. This is his shot. The only reason the steelers cut him was due to all of the injuries. That he made that team shows how well he played as they are as deep as can be on the o-line.

What I found interesting were these comments,

He did really well on the tapes we watched when we claimed him. He certainly has all of the size and the traits you look for in a tackle ~ Head Coach Zach Taylor

Johnson out-snapped Glenn 62 to 28, essentially giving Johnson a full slate of work.

His movement skills pop off the screen when he gets the opportunity to block in space and his immense size can neutralize edge players who can’t break free with hand usage.

He had 45 (snaps in pass protection) in this game and earned a pass-blocking grade of 84.8 from Pro Football Focus. ~ John Sheeran

Butters signed nothing but tackles and Dorky Dan, nothing but guards.

Wellington had a great baseball program. Now they have a solid basketball program.

Wellington has some great youth sports programs developing kids.

There is another issue. Colleges are willing to play super light guys at Edge or DE sometimes, then develop a way (extra in the box, having LBs cheat to defend run or run blitzing) to account for the lack of runstopping at DE. Dwagchoker currently plays two superlights and then a DE at DT.

College OTs often struggle with being fast enough for these guys. Johnson was never fast enough to play these guys in college.

Pro's usually have competent QBs who will destroy a defense that sells out to stop the run like that so they can't do it and can't afford to play LB sized guys at DE. Johnson may be able to keep up with 280-300lb DEs

I hope the Bengals equipment manager remembers to bring his custom concrete shoes.

Fred Johnson played really well on Sunday. He moves much better than he did at UF. His feet are quick. He plays with power. On one play, he basted the DE anmd moved to the second level to pancake the ILB. It was impressive. He is getting rave reviews from the staff after his first start.

yeah big ole Freddie played a great game and certainly helped Cincy win this game. He graded out at 100 for sure.
