Why settle if you did nothing wrong?
Cheaper than fighting it...most of the sporting world has long moved on...soon this won't ever be brought up again and everyone will forget

Folks, this is just round 1. TPD and Rapeis will pay far, far more.

She's only getting 250K of that minus what uncle sam takes. The rest goes to lawyers. Not exactly the pay day FSU fans claims she is looking for and not sure it's worth putting up with the ridicule thrown her way. I think FSU saw an out and a chance to move on and took it despite the corruption surrounding the case making it harder on her.

It isn't a suit for lost wages or income. It doesn't get taxed. I also seriously doubt the fees for that will be 700k. This is a quick and easy case. Likely you have the numbers swapped. Again, it's just the beginning.

You don't settle a case like this unless you fear what comes out in the trial, IMO.

They have sovereign immunity waiver that limits their exposure to a certain amount (maybe 200k per person and 300k per incident but I was never licensed in FL and that was a 10 second glance at the statute). Additionally, there is an interplay with federal law. Litigation like this is a 3-5 year process usually. FSU settled quickly.
