What's happened to our vaunted defense? We give up multiple large rushes and have DBs failing in one on one coverage. Forcing a fumble would be much appreciated.
On the bright side we had a bunch of sacks.

what happened to the d? We've graduated a lot of talent the past several years and haven't replaced it through recruiting. failures in lb recruiting were especially evident

This defense will be good in a game if we find ourselves up 14-17 points in 4th qtr, so we can just tee off on QB, other wise we're gonna struggle. Thought with Shannon though, we'd be more fundamentally sound and disciplined, very disappointed in the coaching job he's done.

Yeah, we don't have a vaunted defense anymore. We are playing freshmen and walkons at 8 positions (NT, DT, both ILBs, CBs, nickel, dime).

This was obviously going to happen. A simple glance at the depth chart was all you needed to do. No excuse for being surprised, frankly.

Let's see:

1. No depth at LB and one of UF's starting LBs was tossed on an idiotic targeting call.

2. UF's DB are very young and can be exploited if the pass rush is lacking.

3. UF's DL should be the strength of the team, but seemed off balance all night.

4. UF does not tackle well and is still working to clean that up.

It was idiotic in that an idiot did it.

It's isn't Christian Garcia's fault that we recruited exactly 1 ILB in the last three years.

That's a great point. We signed some of the fleet of underweight DEs with the idea that many would grow into DTs. Not a single one has. You can only play 2 DEs at a time. The rest just stand on the sideline, all 8 of them, watching the logjam..

That was a no doubt targeting call. That gets called every single time.

It was idiotic in that an idiot did it.

1. No it was not targeting.

2. Yes it gets called every time, by idiots.

3. I defy anyone to intentionally hit an SEC level back in the head on a running play. You are trying to get what ever you can. An no player can not know in advance when a guy with the ball is going to go low.

Can you explain to me how we stopped them when it mattered? What stopped them from winning was the kicker not having enough leg. It was a penalty on defense that got them that far up field to begin with. What stopped them from winning was not 1 but 2 plays in which they left a Wr uncovered with no help up top. Also a missed fg earlier in the game it wasn't nothing that the defense did to win the game.

With all that said I'm stocked to get the W no matter how terrible it looked getting there.
