I am a big fan of the Eyeball Test. Just watch the games and tell me that is an efficient, well-coached, well-designed offensive unit. I don't care if they won an Academy Award followed by the Nobel Prize. There is nothing apparent during yesterday's game, or the two preceding it, that would indicate that McElwain was treated unfairly. Anyone who knows anything about football can see that this was a painfully inept offense.

Everyone on here, including me, has enjoyed taking their shots at Mac. Now that he is gone, and in the way he is leaving reminds me a lot of the Tennessee departure of Fulmer. But in several ways it is different as well. In Mac's first two years, he ends up, and some will say backs into winning the SEC East, and in his third year is fired. His start at recruiting was suspect, simply by the timing of the hire, at he caught up at the last minute. The next two years have been somewhat mediocre, but still ranked. The downfall of not recovering on offense became his serious beginning of the downfall and everyone saw that. BUT, my thinking is that what is the available coaching candidates going to be thinking as this process goes forward?? One might think that by winning 2 SEC EAST division titles, and getting FIRED in the third season, is a reasonable reason for a darn good candidate NOT to come to UF. Let's face it, not many coaches get fired after winning their first two seasons!!! Just that fact by itself will eliminate some top echelon coaches, but maybe not mediocre coaches. Only those that have the confidence in their coaching abilities to overcome that AND the UF fanbase huge impatience, would consider it. The 5 miserable years between Fulmer to Jones was a huge setback to the VOLS program. I'm wondering if the MAC departure will do the same.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion Buck Owens :), and it makes sense on the surface, but it is not exactly the same. Someone had to win the putrid SEC Least and it just happened to be us. Not taking anything away. But in his 3rd year, Butters teams look exactly the same as they did his first 2 years. The problem is that the average fan is a moron and all of sudden we are not winning the Least b/c it has gotten slightly better, and we are the same to worse. So average fan scratches his head. When in reality if they had stopped looking at the scoreboard for Butters 35 game career, and looked under the hood, regardless of results, they would have seen a ticking time bomb. Quality of play was atrocious. Game management was atrocious. Clock management was atrocious. So you ask is it risky to go for someone else. In this instance it is NOT risky, b/c the incompetence of Butters in the most simplistic areas of coaching makes it a no brainer to can him. Thankfully he canned himself, otherwise our admin. guys would not have ever popped the hood of the car.

We are no different than any other fanbase. Scott Frost got death threats while QB at NU.

We're not special. If you pumping idiots would stop saying this crap it would kinda help.

Welcome.

Nav, you change the title again I will strip you of your powers and transfer them to ferg.

Based on the likes you got for that comment, and the quotes, it looks like the board would like that to happen, so just go ahead. Apparently I haven't done a good enough job and it's time to get the Mac treatment.

@GatorsScott: Jim McElwain's 34-game stint as #Gators head coach shortest for a non-interim UF coach since D.K. Stanley's 29-game stint from 1933-35.

That really tells you that our A.D. wants to make a difference. At least I hope so.

Hmmmm didn't you leave someone out? LOL

Nope. Urban Liar came from Utah with Fuchs. Foley had nothing to do with that

Edit: Meant Machen, not Fuchs. Brain fart

Nope: Urbs was the President's choice. If only Foley had a track record like his basketball track record. All of 'em absolute unbridled disasters. I don't know squat about hiring coaches, but I knew from day one that Zook a Mac were going to tank. Muschamp had me fooled.

Edit: @amber1: My sarcasm meter is broken.
