Has there ever been less interest in Gator football?

Don't you think it works that way with most college offenses unless the head coach is more a defensive specialist and has agreed to delegate 100% of the playcalling to the OC?
Yes I do. But doesn't that confirm my point about Mac being the problem and not Nuss? You seem to be arguing with yourself now.

In a way, I am. Mac and Nuss are definitely intertwined. I suppose what I'd like to see is a bright-minded coordinator with greater autonomy. I'd also like to see $200 premiums when my Obamacare policy renews. Shyt in one hand and wish in the other.

The proper terminology is Butters 'n Nuss. I don't know what this Mac and Nuss concoction is.

Watching that buffoon do all he could to lose the TN game with 35 sec left confirmed it for me. Mac is too stupid for this job. Don't know the level of dumbazzness for Nuss. Tired of them both.

OX, I have been making this point since year 1, but the majority of our fan base thinks Butters does not have any say on either side of the ball. IMO, he calls every play. He knows and hears every call. Butters should have on repeat: "What? You called What? I don;t think so. I will be changing that!"

But the problem goes way beyond the actual play call. You have players who are not fundamentally sound at all positions that it makes the QB look worse than he might be. I will be interested to see if LDR lets the plays develop more as he appeared to during his time against UK. FF threw immediately whether it was 5 yards vertical or 30 yards horizontal. B/C that is what they taught him to do or he had know trust in the line or he could not read the defense. Either way it is lack of development there. Then you have a line who can't protect, causing rapid release of the ball. or you have RB's who can't pick up blitzes. or you have WR running poor, lazy routes. Today will show me if the QB development in combo with the other offensive issues is contagious. Either way, Butters is the problem, but he has taken to letting the fan base dictate their ire and will succumb to firing NussNuts to make himself look good at the end of the year.

Agree Fe-Fi-Fo. Way more extensive problem than playcalling. Failures must extend into player development (= coach teaching details of the set of actions that player position must react with), practice executions (repeat rehearsals matching real game speed), simple verbal & posture-carriage that motivates youngsters with fire, on and on 'til I've describe an HC that bleeds O & B = he don't get being a Florida Gator. Mac doesn't comprehend that UF would not have been one of the nation's top jobs if past HCs (Spurrier & Meyer) had "flowed" the players as some "Gentle Zen" show.

Even with Nuss in the box, he relays plays down to the signaller at the sidelines; what else could Mac be listening to? His mind ought to be thinking: "Yep, that's the play I'd expect to be called. Wait! That's the play their DC is expecting too."
Mac has no Gator core & he should have decided 3 years ago that he wanted this job because he had that Gator core. Time to shop wisely for a new fuselage, this plane ain't going upward.

I forgot we had a game last week until last Friday. I forgot about tomorrow's game until about yesterday. I actually had to look up who we were playing. I forgot.
Don't feel bad. I used to count down the hours until the season started....not days, hours. Over the last 2 seasons I often don't bother checking to see what time our game starts and who is televising it until Saturday morning....Wow have times changed.

My first game to see the Gators in person was at Florida Field October 5, 1968. It was a 31 - 14 victory over Mississippi State who at that time was traditionally our first SEC game of the year. There was a battle back then for the starting quarterback position between local Gainesville boy, Jackie Eckdahl, the diminutive Larry Rentz from Coral Gables, and Harmon Wages from Jacksonville.

For me, and I think it is true for a lot of fans, your level of interest is never as great as it was when you were a student. Of course, that doesn't hold for everyone, and there are numerous posters on this board who certainly have maintained a high level of interest over the years.

One thing I have noticed as the years have gone by, and it is not just for Florida football but all over, is that the level of interest is tied more to a team's chance of winning a national championship. At least this maybe true for the top 20 or 25 programs that even have a chance to be number one. Back then the focus was more regional and not national. To be one of the top teams in the South was the goal. Regional rivalries meant a lot and they still do, but we have lost some of our great rivalries -- Miami and Auburn come to mind. We used to have some great games with Georgia Tech when the Engineers were in the SEC.

Well we have no offense so of course there is no interest. Its a boring, crap product on the field.

I was born and raised on Gators football. I will always watch every game, and cheer for my Gators until the day I die. Though it has been a while since I have gone to a game. Actually, since we've become a dumpster fire over the last few years, I've noticed that I watch much less college football overall. I used to watch as much as I could. My overall interest in watching other teams play is down. Probably because it only reminds me of how far we've fallen, and how far we have to go to become a realistic contender again.

I usually watch Southern Cal play, though. I have a Master's degree from USC. I knew the defense wasn't good enough to carry them all the way. I figured they'd lose when the offense had a rough game.

Last weekend I found myself in Lexington Saturday morning for work. I had the option of staying that evening and attending UF v UK or driving to Cleveland Saturday afternoon. I woke up in Cleveland. It's difficult to want to watch this team, it just isn't fun.
