Polite looks huge out there - he's gotta be bigger than 271# at this point.

Some of those guys are so light, they look like they're playing out of position.

People banged on Champ for not getting OL. Not sure how you can't bang on Mac for not getting DTs in a league that loves to run.

He looks huge because he is usually standing beside 220- 240 pound "defensive ends".

Polite doesn't ever look huge to me. I'm not even sure he looks 270. I suspect the truth is a 10-15 lbs less.

This is all I can find. Anyone else?

He doesn't look that much bigger than Davis here:

Yeah, if you are under about 270 you are too light to play end in the SEC, except on third and long.

Ultimately, I think we need to hire a competent S&C coach and then fire his fvkking azz if each DE doesn't come back at 270 and each DT or NT isn't 300-315.

Hopefully they move riles over and we land Slaton, truesdale and maybe Ray. Carter is at 270 now according to TOS. It would be real nice if we could land 4 true dt's.

In my opinion we ideally want 6-10 players that are 280 - 300.

We currently have (I'm not counting Caleb Brantley as he will almost certainly go pro)

4 * Khairi Clark R-So 6-2 319
3* Taven Bryan R-So 6-5 293
3* Jachai Polite Fr 6-2 271

Polite was a freshman this year and should have no problem putting on some weight as a sophomore.

We also have

3* Antonio Riles R-JR 6-4 313

Riles came to Florida as a DL and was switched to OL. I think the coaching staff will move him back to his natural position in the spring or fall.

That would account for 4 appropriately sized DTs on the current roster.

We currently have a commit from

3* Kyree Campbell 6-4 320

We are heavily favored to sign

4* Tedarrell Slaton 6-4 360
3* Tyrone Truesdell 6-3 325

If we sign the players we are favored to sign that would make next season's DTs:

4* Tedarrell Slaton Fr 6-4 360
3* Tyrone Truesdell Fr 6-3 325
3* Kyree Campbell Jr? 6-4 320
4 * Khairi Clark R-So 6-2 319
3* Antonio Riles R-Jr 6-4 313
3* Taven Bryan R-So 6-5 293
3* Jachai Polite Fr 6-2 271

That would give us 7 DTs all of which will probably either be 300 or just below in the fall. It could be better, but it's not what I would call a glaring weakness either.

Wouldn't mind seeing a guy like Riles move over to DT...i believe he was listed as a DL in recruiting.

Walk-on Tanner Rowell?

I remember back in 1990, Spurrier's first season. Glenn Neely was the starting RT. He seemed a little soft, the whole line seemed a little soft. Spurrier (and OL coach Rich McGeorge?) wanted some fire in there, aggressiveness, even some nastiness. He took a little-used DT named Tony Rowell and told him he was the new starting RT. Rowell turned out to be that mean, nasty, trash talking, fight starting SOB the 1990 OL needed. He changed the personality of the line. For the rest of the season, the OL was tougher, meaner, nastier.

Tony Rowell is Tanner Rowell's father.

I'll be shocked if Riles isnt permanently moves. Buchanan should also get a look.

The Pump is strong in this one.

I imagine him sitting on the deck of the Titanic explaining that at least the music is good.

More or less this......One thing that struck me watching the CFB Playoff games on Saturday was that every team playing had a massive defensive line including Washington....much bigger and more physical than where were at. OSU looked closer to our guys and they got their asses handed to them by a very physical Clemson offensive line. No way of getting around it, size matters.
Rush ends aren't necessary when you have 3 big bastards to control the los as it allows you to play with 4 backers any of which can be a designated pass rusher without all the silly shifting of the "Buck" like Muschamp like to do...Good offensive coordinators/QB's often made him look like a jackass doing that especially on 3rd down.
