Since most of this board lives in Florida and will be hit in one way or the other by this monstrosity, I want to make sure everyone is safe it sound. Please check in here, tell us where you are, whether or not you are staying/leaving, etc. When this sucker passes, please check back in with a status report.

We don't want any RIP threads. Please stay safe.

I'm in Port St Lucie on the east coast. My house has poured concrete walls and is all shuttered up. My wife and I don't know if we're going to head north yet or not, we're waiting to get more information on the track. We considered going to my parents house in Gainesville, but they may get it worse than us.

FWIW the latest update has moved the storm's projected path to the East a bit. If accurate, we may avoid the brunt of the storm.

Brandon/Riverview area. Our home was built two years ago, so it's solid. More than likely staying put unless sh*t gets real.

Gainesville area, wood frame/hardboard staying. Way out of flood danger, and only expecting TS winds. If it shifts west, I'll take back roads to family further north.

I-75 is a shyt show, even as far North as Gainesville. If you are planning on leaving SFL, consider back roads or leaving after Midnight. Those two options may alleviate some delays and traffic. A coworker's family drove up from Tampa yesterday, what should've been a two hr ride was six.

One thing is for certain: there is going to be a Florida baby boom in 9 months.

Stop paying attention to what your local rent a degree weatherman on tv is saying, hes just parroting outdated crap that slowly filters out from the same sources. These people are know-nothings. Below are 3 of the most historically accurate models and anyone can look at them. The storm since about 1pm is being forecast to go further west before cutting north and enter the eastern edge of the gulf. Nobody, including the panhandle, is out of the woods yet.

    North Tampa - Staying.

I bought tickets for this weekend's game on StubHub. Because they won't cancel the damn game I'm going to be forced to go.

I'm not looking forward to the traffic.

I think worst case at this time is it comes straight up the state. House came with hurricane shutters, so if I have to put them up it'll take 3 hours.
Not losing any sleep over it.

Macclenny in Baker County. Live in a brick house built in 2005. Think this will be similar to what Mathew gave my area last year which was 40-50 mph winds, this one may be a little stronger but I don't think they're projecting us to get any winds over 60-65 as of right now. My wife, me, and our 2 boys will stay put. Didn't lose power when Mathew came through so I'm hope the same this time around. This area has seen a lot of rain recently and I am concerned with trees being more easily toppled this time around due to soft ground.

    A. Put them up
    B. They always take longer to put up than you think, especially the first time
