The problem isnt Franks. The problem is the fvkking pussies we have at OC and HC who think you must immediately bench any QB who has a turnover.

They are scared pussies who are too afraid to handle the job. So afraid of turnovers. Wuerffel and Grossman would have never seen the field with these pussies.
Unless it's their wonder boy LDR

We sure wish Muschamp benched Driskel after a few games of crazy turnovers. I am almost to the point just fire them all and start a true freshman next season.

I dont know if Mac goes back to LDR if we start losing. It wouldnt shock me if he tried that however.

Oh I wouldn't doubt this for a minute either, but it's the wrong move imo.

Yeah, its funny how a kid plays about as good as he possibly can given the situation and has a turnover trying to do a little too much and gets benched, but LDR can go out there and driskel it up nonstop, throw into triple coverage, take more sacks than a gay porno, fumble, run backwards out of bounds and toss 2 or 3 ridiculously stupid INTs all while his arm looks like a limp noodle, but MacEltard just keeps sending him back in.

Screw this staff.

I think we need a expert opinion if that analogy is correct... t-gator we need your expert opinion.

Franks should be the guy and it can't even be a debate. Their going to have to take the training wheels off Franks though, got to attack the middle of the field, even though it is riskier. Didn't see any of those throws from Franks in this game, just basically safe throws. Franks will throw Ints and at critical times, but he's got to grow and learn from his mistakes. Offensive lines looks weak, but Franks did show mobility that I didn't know he had. Rather see Toney come in as a change of pace read option QB than Zaire, if the staff chooses to try that again. Sucks that we lost the No Colorado game for Franks to get more fine tuned and he has another big game to play in right away, but the experience is only gonna help him. Hopefully they stick with Franks rest of year and he stays healthy, although I have my doubts with this O-line.

Or better yet learn (by studying tape) from the mistakes of others, and also by the success of others.

Our "this year" revitalized OL was abysmal, really worse than a creampuff school, so worse than FIU etc.

I do not see those clips quite the way the poster did. He is a bit generous to Franks several times. Still Franks was not awful, has decent skills and has much more of a future than the other QB prospects not named Trask and Allen.

Not a Franks fan, but I'm rooting for him to do well. Wasn't too upset when he got pulled because I was hoping Zaire could run some different plays to negate the speed up front. At first look, didn't think he looked good or bad, but the offense was struggling.

After reading the breakdown, he played better than what it appeared. Don't get me wrong, we were yelling at everyone on offense, but the OLine is horrible. Franks deserves to start the UT game and I hope the OL can play well enough to win.

The OL looks so lost in those clips. It looks like they didn't even practice some of these plays and had no idea how to adjust to the defense.

The problems/issues are/have been coaching for several years now. I'm sick of it.

Franks needs to play and play alot. He has the most upside and in the long run developing Franks is the best option for this program. I was pleased w Franks limited time again Michigan. Tons of pressure and not one errant throw. Sure he tripped and fumbled (unfortunately) but for a rs freshman I thought he played well. Take the reigns off and let us see some of Mac's "Hey diddle diddle, dude down the middle" stuff! Let him play like the Ole Miss game in 2015!

Go Gators!!!

The OL looks so lost in those clips. It looks like they didn't even practice some of these plays and had no idea how to adjust to the defense.

Really, well lets take it play by play:

Play 1: Good pocket and Franks gets the ball out quickly on the long first pass.

Play 2: The OL does a fine job. UF runs that reverse out drag pattern and sure the DE peels off the OL to pressure Franks, but that is on Franks and the play design since the QB rolls out past the blocker. UF runs this play all the time and it is designed for a quick pass, not surprisingly after so many times the first option, the player lined up as a wing back, is covered. The second option is there but Franks does not see it and it would have been a minimal gain anyway. [This is what I had in mind when I said the commentator was a bit kind to Franks.]

Play 3: Was another quick pass. The OL did their job. Michigan's DB came up really quickly to snuff out the play. Despite what the commentator said, Powell was ok, he can not be expected to block too people. Of course UF did not ever make Michigan pay for cheating up a DB like on this play.

Play 4: This is another example of undue criticism of the OL play. Plain and simple the RB missed his pickup block on the blitzer number 10. Johnson's guy was on the ground and had someone picked up the RB Franks would have easily had time to get off a pass.

Play 5: Good pocket, Franks tripped. As far as I know, when the QB trips, that is on the QB. This one particularly looked on the QB and the pocket looked solid.

Play 6: McCoy misses what is admittedly a tough block. This play could have broken big had he made that block.

Play 7: Good pocket, Franks takes off and runs. Franks gets a first down, so you can not criticize him much, but maybe he left a bit early or maybe credit Michigan's coverage.

Play 8: Solid pocket, Franks misses a slightly open guy, but misses him correctly so there is little chance of a pick.

Play 9: Pretty clean pocket, one Michigan guy on the top of the screen is breaking through late. Franks has plenty of time to deliver and does for typically with this offense a short gain.

Play 10: Another OK pocket with a blitzing player from the top of the screen breaking to pressure late. Still Franks has time to make a back shoulder throw to a UF receiver. The throw is a bit too much in bounds and might be picked if Franks keeps doing that.

Play 11: This time it is a clean pocket for a fairly deep throw. The UF player was covered and the pass knocked away, so maybe Franks should have spent more time looking for another option. He clearly had the time.

Play 12: Another one of those stupid naked plays UF runs all the time. Not surprisingly since they have video capabilities in Michigan it was covered. The OL flowed away from the QB as designed. One Michigan pass rusher was not fooled and got a bit of pressure on Franks. You can not know for sure since we do not see all 22 players, but Franks went to the deeper of the two UF receivers and there were two Michigan defenders in the area when the ball got there while there was only one Michigan defender in the area of the shorter UF receiver. Of course this could have been due to players breaking on the ball as the pass is throw. Again without see all 22 you can not be sure if Franks went to the right guy or not.

Play 13: Really good pocket again. Franks runs before he has too. His safety valve, ie RB at the top of the screen, comes open just after he runs. Franks runs and fumble.

So my analysis of those 13 plays is there is one OL breakdown that costs UF a big play. Other than that the OL play is quite good, with the one sack being on an RB failing to pick up a blitzing player. I know UF could not run much at all in that game, so the OL may deserve criticism for those plays. I was frankly shocked by how good the pass blocking was on those 13 plays.

I can even make a case for why the coaches pulled Franks when they did. Play 10 he risked a pick with a throw too much in the field of play. In the other plays he is either running quickly or going to the first guy no matter who well covered. I saw no going through the progression at all.

This gives me much hope for Saturday. The big mismatch in the opener was sadly in coaching. That will be much more even or maybe even a UF edge Saturday.
