McElwain may or may not be it. Time is running out and UF's will begin hemoraging fans and revenue without a better offense. If he fails to improve the offense as he was hired to do, then eventually he will go the way of Les Miles at LSU.

Still the new AD will be very slow to fire Foley's football hire. If he fires him, the new AD puts his own job on the line.

Also the SEC East is still stocked with DCs trying to play head coach. So I expect UF to win the East again next year. But will two straight SEC East titles with 100+ offense make McElwain almost untouchable now, another SEC East title with a bad offense oddly makes him more vulnerable. As I said above, he was hired to fix the offense and win. If the offense remains awful he will eventually go. We will not know that for another year or two.
No the AD doesn't put his job on the line. He holds a PC letting Mac go because he didn't improve the team to UF standards. ADs rarely get fired. Only a scandal or cover-up gets them canned. Mac gets this year and Stricklin will can him if he struggles. Foley will have zero say and Stricklin wants to make his Mark sooner than later imo.

You can't be serious about this? Foley is looking over his shoulder in everything he does. Heck if he fires McElwain, the AD might be forced to have Foley lead the search and Foley could easily sabotage him.

But even if that does not happen, each coaching hire is a crap shoot. If this new AD fires McElwain and replaces him with someone who is a 7 or 6 or 5 win coach at UF, the AD certainly could lose his job. If he just keeps the guy winning the SEC East that Foley hired, he is golden, no one can blame him. Heck two years from now McElwain will at worst be the guy who has won the East half of the seasons in his tenure.
