No way in Hades am I giving Cam Newton credit for bringing down the Gators. There's not enough LSD on the planet to hallucinate that badly.

Except he wasn't booted from UF for the laptop incident, he was booted for cheating. Carlos Dunlap driving drunk and falling asleep at the wheel was when it started.

The point is, if Cam doesn't leave school we win at least another NC and Meyer is still here to this day.

I think Meyer would have still left shortly after that.

Urbans fake heart attack started it
^^ This. Urban's mental meltdown, and crap recruiting in his final couple of years started the cascade of events that followed. Muschamp just made things even worse. Scam Newton may or may not have made a difference. I'm looking at the lack of any decent QB play from ANY QB UF has put on the field ever since Urban forgot to recruit Olinemen and Muschamp followed right along in his footsteps refusing to recruit Olinemen as well. YOU CAN'T HAVE GOOD OFFENSE WITHOUT AN OLINE!

Play calling was complete crap in the 3rd quarter yesterday, but we're still playing way too many underclassmen on our Oline to expect any real turn-around type season yet imo.

Its also getting old with the O line youth stuff when you see another team with an O line made up of a walk on, a 2 star and the rest 3 stars (with 2 sophomores starting) scoring all over defenses filled with blue chip recruits.

In comparison we have a 5 star and a 4 star staring on our offensive line with no 2 stars or walk ons.

Newton may or may not have made a difference?

You think Meyer would have had the same mental problems if we were still dominating and winning titles and Heisman's with Newton? That would have led to other epic recruiting classes, and we'd be the team that looks like Bama every year instead of Bama.

If Newton and Meyer had never left, we would probably have 3 NC's in the last 6 years.

So one team manages to pull this off with what is probably the most talented player in the entire NCAA at QB, and we're expected to do the same with transfer QBs or our 2* freshman dynamo who Law loves like no other, or another Freshman who threw almost as many interceptions in the spring game as passes?

Yeah, we'll just forget all about the whole broken program part, right? Thugs running the locker room, all that... Wouldn't have happened if only Cammy Cam life saver had stayed.

Program would not have been "broken" if Newton had been the QB following Tebow.

Instead, Cammy Cam was the "life saver" for the Auburn Tigers. :rolleyes3:

I actually kind of buy this. While it may be that Newton had to go to Blinn to get his act together and got a lot more passing opportunies than he got here. But if he would have stayed we sure would have been a hell of lot better. Good enough to win NC? Don't know. It is possible that Meyer needed a break to get his head in line and OSU was his dream job anyway.

A snowball started that day that has led us to our current state, although no one had any idea at the time.

Discuss.
Sorry but not even close. It started when we got 50 pounds underweight at every position. And when we could no longer recruit receivers and running backs he wanted to watch the quarterback run 40 times a game. By 2010 we looked like a Mac team trying to play in the SEC.
