I absolutely trust Gary Sheffield's judgment, because he was awesome, but a lot of people look great hitting in the cage. Put him out there against Clayton Kershaw and see what happens.

Well not many people can hit Kerahaw so that's not really fair lol. But I see what you're saying, and agree. I want to see him face live pitching

He's gonna get signed by some obscure minor league team and used as a circus freak to garner attention and sell some extra tickets. Not gonna be pretty.

I doubt he cares.

He's only 29. Might as well do all you can athletically until your body goes to hell starting at age 40. He has decades to sit on his ass in the booth.

He's 29.......... I'm not saying he's over the hill but 29 seems too old to start a career in Baseball.

Good luck Tim!

If he really wanted a challenge he could try women.

That is a powerful looking swing - good bat speed too.
But ...
I look pretty freakin' deadly at the driving range - until I step on the actual golf course.

However it turns out, I bet Tim winds up with the connections to throw The Tim Tebow Celebrity Baseball Tournament.

If he could throw it where they ain't, maybe he can hit it where they ain't.
Seriously, he has what it takes to at least be looked at, given the same trial as others … but
"fast-tracked" once he plays presentably.

Teezus, he's muscled enough to blast it out of the stadium. (Hey, one day it may be oddcomer vs oodcomer =
Tebow vs Driscoll ?)

He can cause a huge new fan interest in baseball … minor league boost first … then once passing all tests
cause a fan-stir in MLB. As for me, I hope he continuously hits over .300 with 20+ homers. And who better
to go barreling into the catcher (is that outlawed now ?)

His swing has way too much uppercut going on, looks like he's been playing softball.

Edit: Dropping the back shoulder, too. He's definitely been playing softball. He'll hit a million pop ups and occasionally knock one out with that swing.

If he wants to compete, why not the cfl? He's made his money and the booth will always be waiting for him.

Wasn't too late for this guy...

Two things: First, where's LSU Freak on this? Seems like he'd have a piece with Tim as Roy Hobbs meeting Stephen A. Smith as the woman in black in the hotel room, who busts a cap in him. Second, it may seem a reach to most, but I agree with the earlier post that at Tim's age (and level of fitness and desire), why not wish him well? Ox is right, once he passes 40, the booth will be his place and the odds say he'll probably be a minor-leaguer at best, but who knows? He'll always be a guy I root for because he's a Gator (and a great one as far as I'm concerned), he's upright and stands so in the face of harsher criticism than the majority of us can ever know, and he isn't a quitter. I'd rather be the guy that keeps getting back up after running into an obstacle and trying again than one of the multitude that says "screw it" after the first head knock.

Here's another ass hole who couldn't carry Tim's jockey strap. I wonder how many years this fukhead got paid to play baseball or children's hospitals he's built.

BEAU BISHOP @BeauBishop
Tebow in the cage. Judge for yourself. You tell me if that swing gets past AA.

First of the three swings, I agree. Second two looked a little better (though his head appears to come out a little early). But hey, the guy's hasn't played since '05, so you know there's going to be some rust as well as a few HS fundamentals to work on. I will say this...it's a pretty powerful-looking swing.

Yep he is too old to have any shot of making the major leagues I would think. You can't just step away from the game for over a decade and do that (especially with never having played above high school level). I see nothing more than a Jordan situation here. Maybe some single A team lets him play for a year or so despite his production not really justifying it. I would be really shocked if he ever appeared in a AA game.

Fellas easy on critiquing his swing, he's not practiced or played the game of baseball
for 11-12 years now. At least let him try minor league play as a litmus test. I've seen
plenty of MLB strongmen hit HRs with a "golf swing". Some were notorious for being
able to do that. ?? After one year Tim needs to be a high rated prospect or he should
find his true calling.

I remember Deion Sanders playing both NFL and MLB for 9 years ... 'til age 31. He
entered MLB at age 22 after not playing since high school and after 3-4 months in
the minor leagues. (Tebow won't be divided in dedication between 2 sports.
Sanders laid out of MLB for 3 years, tried to come back at age 34 and fell short.

After all is said and done, we are still talking about chasing a dream.

Because the CFL is a passing league? All these Big 12-type 60 pass a game QBs excel up there.

Good luck to Tim. But if he gets a chance to choose between going to the Miami Marlins or New York Mets he will choose the Mets. ;)
