Lets not overreact here. The situation is that we are taking 2 QBs and the next one will probably be a 4* guy. This is a guy who the staff had a FNL and they liked him. He looked good and they decided to give him an offer because they have room and because a 2* QB recruit will not scare away the big fish they are trying to land. The big name guys are still waiting to make their decisions. A lot may depend on how the offense looks this year.
I get why people are upset signing a 2* backup. We don't want the starter at QB. He is 5'7 and would not succeed as a QB in college. This kid may be better than a 2*, probably more realistically a 3* and grabbing a 3* as a future backup to build depth isn't a horrible idea. The staff wouldn't have given him an offer if they didn't think he had skills and could be coached into somebody they can use. Think about how bad our QB play as been lately. We are taking 2 in this class and already have a stud coming in 2017. Depth is key.
