I really like that helmet. Not a big fan of our current helmet because of the cursive script. Who writes in cursive anymore? Still, the helmet is alright because we are probably only university with cursive script on our helmets.

EDIT: Just browsed the football helmets website. Ole Miss and UCLA also use cursive script.

I love our current helmets and normally hate white ones like the ones we got our azzes kicked in the 2009 SECCG. I like this one though and wouldn't mind seeing us wear them from time to time.

No permanent helmet change since 1978. I still like the retro look we had against Bammer in 2006. I don't think we have to worry about the Confederate flag look of 1962 reappearing though.....

I like the white helmets but I'm not a big fan of that logo. I liked the ones you referred to with the F.

I am always amused about uniform or helmet threads. I don't give a rat's A$$ what we wear as long as the quality of play improves and the coaching improves as well.

I don't hate it. I like the new logo better, so I would prefer it be on the helmet instead. In any case, I think we need to come out with a few alternate unis. The players like having different looks, and recruits eat it up.

White with the gator head logo would be sweet.

This. Or else the 2009 white helmet. Not a big fan of the logo on this design. It's nice to see a change though.

Context is everything. In 1962 that wasn't racist and as the story states was a way to drum up the "Southern Boys" against their whiny Northern opponent. It had nothing to do with race. More generally, no one outside of a few idiots in pointy robes thought the stars and bars had anything to do with race until more recent history. Revisionists will say otherwise, but that's the way it goes. We typically place history in a modern context when defining the whys.

Football, Florida and tradition used to go hand in hand. Might as well be FAU to some of y'all.

Speaking of which I was surprised to learn why the first stanza of the fight song is never sung. I never even knew it existed.
