We’ve got the schollies available. I don’t think there’s a good argument to not take a flier on a guy with his potential.

Well, the result of rejecting Shorter means somebody of even fewer accomplishments will sit in his spot on the bench. But Shorter won't go unused on the bench. If recruiting isn't filling the spots, then do it via other resourceful successes.

Best to listen to Seabee. Besides, Shorter would come with that shoulder-chip to prove naysayers wrong.

I have no problem with bringing in transfers to fill some needs. I DO have an issue with utilising that option as a "band-aid" solution to make up for our lack of recruiting.
Now the UF brand is not the same as it used to be--we just went through nearly a decade of horrible coaching and abmysal offense.

If the transfers can play a part in getting us in the national spotlight--like winning the SEC and competing in the playoffs, then perhaps that will help recruiting.

I think that the truth is a combination of both arguments; we need to recruit better, but we cannot depend on the portal to get us there.
Changes need to be made, and staff members that are underperforming must be shown the door. How that happens and the timing of it is Mullen's decision--and why he gets paid 6 mil a year.
But he is running out of time.

WR transfers, in particular, are interesting for us. Based on HS potential, we are reeling in great talent but doing so without getting top HS recruits. I don’t have a problem with it as long as it doesn’t become the way to recruit and we are only taking top talents. Seems to be the case so far. Just need the recruiting part to start - or get fixed.

Greenard was essentially encouraged to look elsewhere in part bc he was too big to play OLB in a less radical system and too small to play traditional DE. Essentially Greenard needed Grantham and fit perfectly in his system.

(The flipside is he isnt going to make it in the NFL for the same reason. You cant be a on trick pony and cant cover well enough to be an NFL LB.)
Law is so consumed by “winning” an argument on the internet, that he thinks it’s totally ok to **** on any Gator athlete, even if they just came in and had a huge impact on the team’s success. Get help, dude. stop huffing gasoline

Such a jumble here now.
Whatever puts a play-maker "new-Gator" at Mullin's use. I doubt I care where he came from or how. I understand that worry that the Gator recruiters are gonna slouch off on real recruiting. Did Mullin accept Greenard because he failed to recruit that position? Get the best you can whenever you can, from wherever you can. Greenard was a dedicated Gator. Mullin and crew will always lust after every high school recruit that is top-ranked, that's where any season's competition begins. Getting h.s. recruits is the most straightforward route. Adding a "best" player who wants to be a Gator usually works well.

If Cheeseburger, I mean Shorter, signs, we won’t be getting a backup who couldn’t hack it. Shorter was a starter even with Franklin mocking his weight to the media.

you going to go on record that you expect anywhere near a Greenard type year? Because that's a pretty stupid comparison to make. That's like saying we should take 2*s because Trask is doing well. You have a guy being run out of town by his coach, and you're going to start mentioning him in the same breath as Greenard.

You're right, I should have couched that in more clearly hypothetical terms. An "if" would have been a little less "stupid." I am however reminded of why engaging in discourse with you can turn into the conversational equivelent of stepping in dog shytt in very short order. Have a nice life.

You realize you're attempting to conduct an argument using logical thought with an alcoholic, right?
