There’s very little about you that’s objective when it comes to Mullen. You bash his defense, his coordinators, his sideways offense, Grantham and the recruiting. And all he’s done is put together two very impressive seasons back to back against an enormous headwind.
I get it. You like to talk X’s and O’s and position yourself as having as having an elite grasp of the game. Your grasp in infantile. You don’t get the fact that the guy came in at the tail end of a lost decade and resurrected the program. You don’t get the challenges he’s faced. Post after post you nitpick every angle of what the guy has done, and what he’s going to do.
For a guy who pretends to know as much about the game as you want us to think, you come across as never having played it. I find that weird.
TBF, there are things to bash. Besides, the best nitpick. You don't think Saban is nitpicking?
Mullen is squeezing all the juice he can out of what he's got, which is why everyone said he has a high floor. He also is low risk, so low ceiling.
Sideways offense? Just not as exciting. I don't really have an issue with it, but I see why others do.
Defense? TG is the opposite of clutch. LSU? UGA? Garbage efforts.
Recruiting? I actually think Dan may be an ok recruiter, but his loyalty to guys who don't produce is on him. Finishing 6th in your conference doesn't get it done. Especially when 3 are far, far ahead of you. He's done a great job with transfers, but that's not a sustainable approach.
Point is that we're happy with 10 win seasons, we're happy with progress, but that doesn't mean money wasn't left on the table.
