These kids are ranked 5* out of high school for a reason; perhaps they suffered an injury or things didn't work out with their coaches in the transition to college ball.
Any school and coaches recruiting these transfers must evaluate the situation and be confident that the prospect can fill a need and contribute; they're not coming here to ride the pine, and it definitely affects future recruiting.
For example, we brought in Lingard, yet we are still trying to recruit Evans.
And we all hope that Lingard will get a waiver and not have to sit out a year.
So how does that affect the decision-making process of Evans? Do you think that other schools aren't going to recruit against that?
These 5 star kids want to know that there's an opportunity to get snaps right away; they're competitive and want to get on the field and make a difference--that's why they're at the top of the list.
They also understand that a previous injury does not necessarily rule out competition.
You can bet that anything that can be sold against us will be expressed in the recruiting process.
This is another reason why, while transfers can help us, they can hurt us just the same, and why we simply can't rely on transfers to fill the holes in recruiting.
