Great write-up. We seem to somewhat play to the level of our competition, so I hope that means we'll have our best game against Bama. Change 3 of the several self-inflected mistakes, and our final score is in the 40's where it should have been. I think what's frustrating is that we've yet to see this team play to their full potential. Coaches are supposed to get the best out of their players and put them and the team in the best positions to succeed. Unfortunately, that's not always happening. Several good play calls and also several head scratchers.

It is nice to clinch the East with a legit Heisman candidate, but beating the vols doesn't have the same feeling as it did 20, 10, or even 3 years ago. Maybe that's because I used to live near tons of vol fans and no longer any more. I do still enjoy how bad their football program is and the fact that Fulmer contributed to their current state.

Has any other UT opponent utterly failed to produce a running game? I do not understand.

Great input as always. We got as usual a biased ref team. That so called pass interference cost us a TD. We missed a FG which we should not have and on one of their TDs there was clear holding.

I doubt we will have great success with LSU as it seems opposing defenses have improved their performance.

Not that Trask should be running much, but he could have just hit the hole and probably made that fourth down, instead of making a move.

All in all a victory is better than a defeat, but inconsistent play makes it less joyful than it could have been.

Now Trask deserves the Heisman since he has little to no help around him other than blocking and receiving. Almost no running game, and a defense that allows our opponents to sometimes milk the clock.

I think you highlighted the most important flaw in this team: Mullen’s playcalling. At times, he’s looked like a genius....I’m thinking of the games vs Ole Miss and UGay(before we took a big lead). Other times he’s looked like he has no clue how to keep his team in the “flow” of the game.

I get that this team isn’t last year’s LSU. They could run the ball when they wanted to, and their defense....while not considered one of the best ever, was light years better than what ours is. One of the most puzzling things is that Mullen is all too willing to insert Emory into the game when we’re driving using Trask’s arm, but when we’re struggling to run the ball and get first downs, he has no interest.

Another puzzling thing is Delance. FFS this is the third straight week that teams are scheming to expose him as the weak link in the online. I know we’ve all beat the Stiner and Marco thing to death, but the same can be said for our right tackle. I just don’t get it.

Mullen seems content to get up a couple scores and then go retarded with his conservatism, we will never win a goddamned thing with that approach, but the occasional East title.

All in all, at least we’re heading to Atlanta, while UGay will be at home rooting for Bama the same way we do when it’s their turn.

Watched the game with my niece, a Clemson fan. She said it was a shame that Vandy got the credit for breaking the gender line in P5 football. UF could have done that with absolutely no loss in efficiency. Said she could have played right tackle on passing downs and done exactly what Delance did-- nod and wave as the DE passed by on his way to the quarterback.

Good Lord, I hope our team is not as afraid of Bama as this board is.

Rocket, I like your attitude but I'm just going on what others have said, "you are what you put on tape".

I understand that anything can happen in a game but right now, Bama looks like our Kryptonite.

* We better not over-look LSU....

On point as usual Cover, as we have said before :deadhorse: a sound defense is necessary to beat any good offense. And Alabama certainly has one. If Jalen Waddle returns we are even more toasted. I think we still get RUN ....dammit Jim, break down and wrap up!!!!
That is all, carry on...:jog:

I just think the game WAS salted away by that point. We only ran the ball 17 times all day. Should we just stop ever trying to run the ball and just throw it 70 times a game? I'd rather us work on it now so maybe, somehow, we figure something out we can use later when we need it..
At no point will the unblocked offside DE EVER respect Trash running ability and make Danball option work.

The run game works just fine when we have AR at QB or when we run something conventional (izzy, ozzy, power etc) which we havent done for a few weeks for sone reason that makes absolutely no sense.

Im not sure why we run the option, QB, the fake option screen pass, or QB keeper at all. But we do and it obviously will never stop.

I approve this message. The win against Uga, a team that has a roster just as talented and deep as Bamma, was important for the program.

I actually THOUGHT Mullinz might be bc we were running well w conventional run game earlier in the season. He still felt the need to run options for.some reason JUST TO SEE IF THEY HAD SRARTED WORKING.

Grantham is what Grantham has always been.

Three weeks in a row, for one reason or another, Mullen squandered another opportunity to develop our younger players - like playing Delance's backup, or Stiner's & Wilson's. It's mind blowing. Letting sh*tty teams hang around into the 4th quarter has become our forte.

“I think it shows where we are as a program”

- Dan Mullen answering a question at his post- game press conference about what it means to have clenched a spot in the SECCG.

A 31-19 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers that also earns us the title of SEC East Division Champions is certainly something to be happy about along with the aforementioned date with Alabama in two weeks. Trask also seemed to do nothing to dissuade the Heisman voters that he is deserving of the honor after throwing for 433 yards and 4 touchdowns. We have a lot to be proud of in this unusual year.

I wouldn’t be a Gator, however, if I didn’t harbor some reservations. After all, it was the 2-5 Vols (now the 2-6 version), losers of six straight that we allowed to score twice late in the game and amass three drives of ninety-plus yards each. Maybe at the very least the program is as good as it was since last we won the East, only to get clobbered by the Tide. But I’m happy, just not really ecstatic.

:chomp:
Cover, excellent write up as usual. I suspect the editors at the Gainesville Sun read your post-game summaries and concluded that Dooley can never match your analyses, and forced his resignation and required that he leave the building out the back by the dumpsters.

Regarding UF rushing, I put together a little Excel summary thinking there might be something of a noticeable trend, but did not find one. UF rushing vs. UT seems to be an anomaly, or the start of a trend, or the result of bad Tennessee whiskey. Did our O-line, in a single week, forget how to run block? The Gators leaned on Trask, and he was up to it, fortunately. Did you see that UTs gameplan was to stop the run and force Trask to throw...are they that inept to try that scheme? I didn't see UT stacking the box much to that end, but their 3 & 4 down linemen certainly ID'd our ballcarriers quickly and moved to make the stops. (I well remember my HS coach barking "HIT & HUNT!!...EYES IN THE BACKFIELD!). Without WR Copeland's 17 yd run .
What reason(s) do you see for such an abysmal performance in a single week against a mediocre opponent?

He has zero killer instinct. Im sure @ThreatMatrix will agree.

It is like he got skullfvchsed so much at Cowbell that he feels sorry for the other shytty coaches.

Great as always Cover! If Pat Dooley read your takes and thought about the games he might still have a job. Since the ugly game there have been chances to at least dishearten the other team in the first half and certainly the second. That lack of killer instinct bothers bothers me too, especially with the defensive lapses we are prone to. Again, always look forward to this Sunday read!

It is amazing really that drunk ass Dooley could get PAID TO COVER football for three fuchsing decades, and still cant tell the difference between an inside zone, a zone read, and a zone blitz. And yet, he is just as clueless about football as your average middle school girl.

Youd think just watching practices for decades that he would figure something out. It is amazing.

Bowl is just as clueless. I think UF wants it that way.
