Kyle Pitts should abandon his teammates and opt out

Kyle Pitts has played this season while risking his future income to win a championship. He took a big hit against them dwags that highlighted those risks. But, he was ready to play and his coaches spit on his efforts and risks in the manner they treated the LSU game overall and in sitting him (then not dressing him for the second half).

He was still in contention (regardless of how realistic this Saturday would be) to win a national title. His coaches took that chance away from him And minimizes his efforts to date with the healthy scratch and dumb comments pre, during, and after the game.

Why does he keep playing now? Only one answer makes any sense - he personally believes we beat Bama. Hard to believe that now, but it’s the only Possible rationale to keep playing and since he got to be just a spectator, I doubt he believes it.

Trask still is playing for a Heisman and to bolster his draft stock after his coach (who refuses to lobby for him for the Heisman) threw him under the bus at halftime of the LSU game.

Coaches recover from tough loses. But, it will be hard to overcome the response to massive stupidity (spanning several weeks leading into LSU) that led to that loss. Pitts may be the first at UF to say enough of that guy.

if we beat Bama, are you less pissed or more?

I see your point. If the HC doesn't give it his all and use all his weapons to win a game, why should the player? Accountability starts at the top, leadership and example start at the top. Unfortunately we have a turd that is only slightly more polished than chump and butters were.

I've got to agree. I'm normally of the mind that players should play, but with Cousin Eddie keeping me out last week and we have no shot, I'd be focused on my personal future, not Cousin Eddie's.

Mullen probably didn’t anticipate the colossal number of mistakes his team would make against an otherwise outmanned opponent.

I guess that makes Mullen guilty of what many teenage athletes do, look past an opponent.

Here we go.

By Tuesday, Ole Mullinz and Choker will be the best coaches in the SEC again.

Nope...if I was Pitts and the coaches told me to sit while I watched that abortion of a game why get injured before the draft?

You misread me. I’m not giving him a pass. I’m looking through his distorted lens. The blame falls squarely in his lap. How else do you explain us losing to a 23-point dog at home?

Pitts not playing did not lose this Game.
Poor blocking
Poor play calling
Terrible Defense

If I'm Pitts I'd play.

And if I'm Mullen I'd pull out all the stops.
And someone else would call the D and it would be simplified

I would find it ironic if anyone would agree with you on this board. Most of us hammer athletes that do this exact thing that you are suggesting.

The whole point of the conversation is pretty much useless. Pitts wants to play. Of course he does. It’s Bama. He wants to play the best and beat the best. But, yeah, I’m sure he’s saying to himself, what in the hell were you thinking by looking last LSU?

If he wants to play he should play. If he elects to sit out, no hard feelings from me. I'll just wish him the best in the NFL draft and in his career.

Pitts wouldn't even consider not playing - not for a moment. He's not like that.

You can’t claim that championships are all that matter and then say there’s nothing to play for, 5 days before the SECCG. I don’t care what the odds are. You have a 60 minute opportunity to win a title and be a part of something we’ve done a total of 8 times in 114 years. Of course he should play.

I don't have any real problem with NFL prospects sitting out meaningless bowl games - there are dozens of them. However, this is a championship game - you don't sit these out.

Almost added that exact point. Beyond Saturday, I get it.
