I thought he was treated very unfairly by Dan Snyder. He took over a dysfunctional Redskins team and started out 0-5; they then finished 8-3 over the remainder of the season and barely missed out on the playoffs. After the season was over, Snyder quickly fired him so he could hire SOS.
You make a good point: Marty had the misfortune of working for some truly awful owners.Marty had finally figured it out and was poised for great things in SD. Unfortunately the Chargers had the most moronic owners and manager, not only firing Marty but letting Brees go as well.
