Not many teams have different kickers for kickoff and field goals but whatever .Bum Greg pulled pierce after the nice touchdown run so Malik could get get an a gap carry . Godmdamn shmucks

I wouldn’t blame the kicker
Let’s say he hits the kick he missed and then one after the Pierce TD. Bama would have gotten the ball back with 3 minutes and all (I think) of their time outs. Do we honestly believe our brilliant DC would have stopped Bama from getting a least a FG?

An excuse cannot be made for a SHANKED extra point. It's inexcusable. My friggin little sister could make a XP. Find another kicker.

No joke. Lot of blame to go around. Missed opportunities but in the end the deciding factor was a missed xp

Two things….we damn well know Bama would have driven the field had we tied it via 2 point or had actually made the original xp. Our D has never come up big in situations like that, just look at A&M/LSU last year.
Lastly, I put it on Dan to go for two on that next TD to get the score to possible 17-21. The pressure to make the conversion to tie the game vs. missing it on an earlier TD sets up a much more manageable game-plan knowing what you need to do.

I didn’t say he should be excused; A D1 kicker should hit every XP, assuming everyone on the field does their job. My point is simply the loss should not be blamed on him. (I also never saw a replay of the miss; were the snap and the hold good?)
He gets a share of the blame, along with a bunch of others, but I know we can all come up with bigger culprits.

He gets his share of blame for the loss, as he was a part of it. The #1 team rolls into town and you shank a XP? Cut him!

Give me a break people, you would eat your own young if you ran out of bread for your tomato and mustard sandwiches. Sure the kid missed an XP. It happens. And has happened to some of our best kickers.
The Dwag's defense gave up 21 points in the first quarter. Late in the 4th quarter, Bama has the ball on their own 33, it's 3rd and 2 with what a minute + on the clock. Did anybody think the Dwag was going to get Bama off the field. No!
Blame the Dwag and the head coach that keeps him around.
