In @ltraz defense, the so called "composite talent" lists all put us at 12-15 in the country. Not elite, but better than most of the teams we played this season.

Are those team rating that far off?

Could it be that the players attitudes and habits (as a team) has more to do with it?

And, could it be, BN and staff made a strategic decision to put most of their efforts into developing recruiting rather than coaching and game planning this year? (I prefer to think this is the case)

A lot of my questions regarding this staff will be answered on ESD. (And portal).
What is talent? Athletic ability? And who's grading?

I contend it's not all talent, it's skill set and fit. Speed, size, quickness, agility they all play a part. On defense, Grantham liked the Swiss Army Knife. They could be 4* but did they fit? Urban loved SPEED but at 200lbs and you need 2yrds is that a fit?
Mullen wanted a Tebow but had Trask and could not see it until he had to.

ESD and portal acquisition has to close very strong to remove some of the stench of the season for me. It does make you wonder how the previous staff whiffed so much on the consensus #12-15 talent rating. NOLA's comment above makes sense to me that they were looking for a different type of player than BN and staff covet and scheme around.

I do want to see some tweaking of game preparation and in game management going into next season as we have pummeled the dead horse over those deficiencies and some are glaring. This is where BN has to prove he isn't a know it all putz like the predecessor and will learn and change out what isn't working so, my hall pass will last until this time next season.

Yes. Apparently there was a minor disagreement between he and @Detroitgator that got blown way out of proportion and he decided to leave. Think Ox had a hand in it as well.

Could it be that the players attitudes and habits (as a team) has more to do with it?

Could it be that the existing players (especially on defense) were very talented but just the wrong mix of individuals?

And, could it be, BN and staff made a strategic decision, early on, to put most of their efforts into developing recruiting rather than coaching and game planning this year? (I prefer to think this is the case)

My take is that it’s a bad combination of too many low-rated 4*s, a couple of great players that skew things and then a lot of below average players. The biggest takeaway for me of the way the last few guys have recruited is that you have to stack at positions, and we failed to do that. Dexter is a great example. He could’ve gone anywhere. Say he’d gone to uga. Look at who would’ve been all around him. Instead, it’s a mixed bag of Goods/Lee type players that just aren’t anywhere near his level. Even Watson, for all his effort, shouldn’t be a starter here. So landing a Marshall, Elam or Dexter type from time to time, but failing to demand that level of talent at all positions, and in surplus, leaves you with what you’ve seen.

I don’t think we should’ve gone 6-6 this year with this team. But looking back, I’d say 8 wins was probably the absolute max we could’ve expected given where we’re at and the opponents we faced. And then you have the AR wildcard that has a major role in this two inexcusable losses(Uk, Vu). I’ll continue to say, no way Smart should’ve lost as much as he did(including Vu) in 2016 with the squad he inherited. Hoping it was a similar cultural change here as well. Coaches had some questionable moments, but there was a lack of true talent that teams like Ala/uga would be rolling out on both sides.

He had disagreements with everyone. He knew his stuff but like a few others, went ape :kiffin: if you challenged him. He would get very personal.

There are facts and opinions. There is news and commentary. People today have trouble distinguishing the difference.

Itraz was probably one of the biggest dick heads on here but he also had more football knowledge then most of us combined. It was kind of nice to have a football minded person posting from time to time. Now we're back to dick jokes and being chastised by metro sexual Mr Bean for not falling in line about Napier.

Did he really have that much knowledge though? Or did he just carry himself in a way that suggested it, using phrases that most of us had never heard before? I swear every time he dissected a play there was a new animal nickname involved for some player that was totally unknown to me, like Cox is the jack rabbit here, or Ryland-Powell is supposed to play smash grizzly bear concept, or Trevez tried to boundary lamb but they cheesed him. And this would go on for 4 to 5 paragraphs at a time. I know I can be a bit wordy, but even I had to sometimes break up his posts into multiple days just to be able to spend time with my kids.

Does it really matter how much knowledge he had? Fuker is responsible for like 90% of my likes. Let's bring him back
