That's actually great, and the way he puts it with 'unproven' doesn't matter how much of a stud or star rating in HS, college is a new level, and there have been plenty of 5* busts. Same as the jump to the NFL.

Maybe this will start a trend of performance based NIL. Base $$, incentive for number of games, production.. you know,, prove you are worth the $$

I thought coaches weren't supposed to be involved in NIL deals:scratchchin:

Also, everyone knows Bama pays in vehicles, not cash

I’m guessing he’d balk at a $13M QB recruit as well.
This blows a hole in the top talent to deepest pockets theory. At the end of the day, the same coaches getting talent before will continue bc they are simply good recruiters, and their team's success year in and year out speaks to croots desire to play for championships and maximize their NFL chances. Money helps, but it ain't the end all be all.

Saban can do what he wants, but money is money and those kids will go elsewhere to get it. You can't put the cat back in the bag.

Lets not pretend that Saban is some paragon of college football virtue. He can say/act this way because he is at Bama and where they are at in this current generation. If Saban was still at Mich State, I doubt he would be saying the same thing.

He’s the exception. He’s been developing millionaires for over 15 years at Bama. He’s got NFL rosters all over the country to prove it. He’ll lose out on some short-sighted kids, but he’ll still get his share of blue chips.

Sanders on why he’s not playing

This is exactly what I observed his Sr year playing for the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. Multiple infractions that Bill Castle did not tolerate. He was ineligible (CD) for two regular season games and had some in game suspensions at other times all related to him acting like all he had to do is strap it on. I actually have to respect Sanders for putting his foot down. McClain will be at UCF or USF next season.
