An OC that gave him very little time. Id guess 70% of the OL problem is Billy's playcalling.

Eventually Retard Billy might figure out that run blocking "to sell" the play action or double play action (fake jet too) is a dumbass play call most of the time.

But he hasnt so far. It has only been 12 years though. Maybe he is just a slow learner.

#4 rated Safety in the transfer portal (per On3)

Wow, what a flurry at the end. Things were looking pretty bleak for the first few weeks of the portal, with only 1 highly rated transfer in (Joey Slackman).

But things really took off recently with 4 high ranking pick-ups (D'Antre Robinson DT, Grayson Howard LB, Jameer Grimsley CB, Asa Turner S) back to back.

All at positions of need too.

The F position (SDE) should be loaded with Tyreak Sapp, Kelby Collins and Brien Taylor.

The biggest question marks on the roster going forward look to be STAR (Jaydon Hill gone) and EDGE (Princely gone) on defense.

Either Sharif Denson needs to gain serious weight or Dijon Johnson or Aaron Gates need to prove themselves (both 6-1 200) for the STAR position.

At EDGE one of TJ Searcy, Kamran James, or Gavin Hill need to step up. Justus Boone coming back healthy would be a big boost. LJ McCray should initially play at this position and have an impact.

On offense, both Damien George and Kamryn Waites look to be limited by speed for the OT position, both should move inside to OG.

The two incoming OT transfers were decently ranked in the portal but both got low PFF grades for 2023 (#200 or lower in the NCAA for OT).

Barber and at least one more OT need to step up for the position to be decent. George and Waites moving inside should bolster OG and Kearney should be able to backup at OC.

Assuming that in the spring we lose another 3-4 scholarship players to the portal or other reasons (hopefully dead weight), OT, EDGE and STAR would make good targets for incoming transfers.

Great to see us add players that will help the team immediately. Hopefully we can continue this momentum of non-bad news.

He only got a few snaps a game and wasnt on any depth chart Ive seen for 2023 Huskies, but their DBs were solid and it isnt hard to be a step up from what we have, even if he just displaces Moten as a depth piece.

Not sure exactly what he places but he is big enough to play star. He would sure be helpful there. Washington plays a third safety, usually bigger vs a third corner as a nickel. Id definitely prefer more size to keep us from continuing being a creampuff run defense.

I agree with you on George. He was actually decent at run blocking despite not even being a speedbump in pass blocking especially with an outside speed rush. I think he might make a swrviceable guard.

Waites Im not so sure. He looked decent to me outside and probably better than hapless Barber. We will see how the others work out. Barber at the very least needs to get back to RT and have the slower DE and TE help most plays. He just isnt an SEC LT.

Losing Princely was addition by subtraction again, just as Cox was. He simply did not exist in run defense. You just can't have that. I dont have much concern about the DEs on either side.

He was the starter until he got injured. Only played in a few games last year and redshirted.

Just found this: https://www.si.com/college/florida/football/florida-gators-ncaa-transfer-portal-washington-asa-turner-commitment#:~:text=Turner's most recent season was,National Championship, where the No.

Weve had quite a few DBs recently who couldnt or wouldnt get a hand on a ballcarrier to risk breaking their hands. I hope he pulls an Anzalone and finally has an injury free season. Seems like he is due for some good luck.

Looks good but we really need to stop throwing around the term "can't be any worse"

That said if the coaching is even marginally better than last year on defense there is no reason we shouldn't be noticeably better.

Offensive line is still scary no matter how anyone tries to spin it.

CANT WE JUST HAVE SOME DREAMS OF COMPETENCE, NOT EXCELLENCE, BUT COMPETENCE?

No, you have to sprinkle our heads with your recycled barrels of Bud Light at the slightest positivity.

Jeez what a Negative Nelly.

Did Crenshaw play LT at SDSU? I see him as the only hope to man that position next year. Without at least an average LT Mertz won't have enough time to complete anything beyond 5-10 yards downfield just like last year. Opposing defenses make it a point to punish the weakness in an offensive line and with limited mobility Mertz will struggle on 3rd down.

Im pretty sure he did.

Im actually not as down on Waites as some others. He looks clearly better than George to me and probably better than Barber.

I doubt the Ivy League kid can play outside.

We seem to be in the same position we have been, a bunch of big slow OGs but not enough OT types.
