Ok serious question, No way treon stays here if he loses QB job next year, right?
Hard to tell at this point. We haven't added any immediate help at the position. I'm excited about Franks for the future though.

It depends. If he wants to take the long shot at playing next level ball his only chance is to change positions and take full advantage of his remaining eligibility. So really losing any chance at playing QB at UF and changing positions would be the best reason for him to stay if the coaches think he projects at another position and can offer him playing time.

I think he has to change positions to get on the field at UF but I just can't see where he's got the skills to play any other role. The kids been playing QB since high school. It's not like you can magically give him safety skill set by waving a wand and saying your now a free safety. He hasn't shown much aptitude in progressing at his area of "expertise" so not sure how you plug and play him anywhere else. I can only see him as a 3rd (generous) string with maybe some wildcat packages.

Smartest choice is transfer to juco if he wants to play QB.

Well he can't read a defense and it's pretty clear that even when he knows the play, the protection, and the routes being run he can't process anything fast enough to take advantage.

This being the case, I'd be shocked if he was able to process an offensive play without knowing what play was run, which he'd have to do as a safety.

I only see a chance at slot receiver where he's just given a route and an option or two based off what the D does. But I'll stress that even this, IMHO, is a long shot.

He wouldn't have transferred if he didn't think he had a realistic chance.
Josh Grady says hello. Maybe they just wanted to get out of the miserable winters.

I think Appleby, as a guy who has at least played some 1a football and started some, is better but the bald fact of transferring isnt much.

Depends on when he "loses" the job. If it is after classes start in the fall then I think he has to wait until after the semester to transfer, I may be wrong, but I thought there was something like that and that is one of the reasons McElwain dragged his feet naming Grier.

I agree and this is what I was thinking when I said his only shot is changing positions. He's got good speed, is elusive and has good hips. He also is pretty sturdy and has decent size for the small slot type player like an Amendola type. Problem is he would have Powell in front of him and we hardly even used him this year.

I'm sure the coaches feel some degree of gratitude to him and will give him a chance if he has the talent.

Lol some of you actually believe Del Rio would have started over Grier? How naive can you possibly be? Go watch his film. He's got a noodle arm. I know Mac pushed for immediate eligibility... You know to be the back up?

What are you guys going to do if Mac trots out Treon next year and says he's the best QB he has?

I saw film from his Junior year in High School. He will be a Redshirt Sophomore next year. Is your film more recent? Maybe he improved in four years.

A noodle arm is a noodle arm. See Skyler Mornhingwhig. You can improve on accuracy and getting the ball out all you want. You can only improve your God given arm strength so much. Now don't get me wrong if the kid is the best chance for us to win games, by all means start him.

But I've actually seen Appleby with my own two eyes make plays and good throws down the field in a P5 game. Just get him to stop turning the ball over, hand it off to Thompson, and hit the deep PA.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Harris. Personally, I don't think he's cut out to play defense, so it's either the slot or the highway, IMHO, and I'm not even sure he can play the slot. He may need to transfer if he wants to continue playing collegiate ball.
He should probably just get his UF degree and forget all about football completely.

Harris will start the first game. Same way he did this year. I'm preparing myself for it. Just won't freak out about it.

He may not even start the Spring O&B game. Depends upon how things shake out with the transfers and early enrollees.

Actually a redshirt junior...which further illustrates your point...

That's not how things work. You don't do that to the kid that's been there with you in the fire. Some of you want him out of there so bad you can't think logically about the situation. Mac will treat the 2016 situation exactly as he did 2015. "They're all neck and neck." Harris will start out of loyalty and we'll know who will be the real starter against UK in the second game.

I can name another one, Kerwin Bell.
Kerwin Bell redshirted, as did Wuerffel. Wayne Peace started as a true freshman, I believe.
