We filled a lot of needs to get back to Atlanta immediately but I definitely wonder about the long term affect it will have on following seasons, especially how our defense does

Agree completely. I think we're set up to have a better year this year than next year simply because the defense will be better.

Defense will be better?? Or offense?

if there was rhyme or reason to the way the recruiting class took shape, it would be much better to think the staff made a conscious decision to recruit heavy on offense and switch focus to the defense in the next recruiting cycle for 2017 and then take a more balanced approach in 2018 after the ship has been set right. can't deny chump's recent classes were heavily tilted to the defensive side of the ball. this was a necessary reset even if it still leaves us thin at LB in particular.

Little does she know Treon is now a Slot Receiver, but there are some other good points.

Good post. Mac was hired to fix the offense and I believe he will. He is smart enough to know EXACTLY what is needed on the defense as well. He knows he missed out on a few this time but he also acknowledges he and his staff need to do better. So, for the offense, he did a good job. I would wager the staff has their eye on the other side of the ball next year. Hopefully we build alot of relationships and we do some winning to attract more talent.

With the way our team finished the year, I'd say that recruiting was an enormous success this year. Post Grier, the team was just as hard to watch as the Muschamp years. The fact that Mac was able to pull the class together that he did is pretty amazing. Now, we'll see how well he can coach.

LongTooth has a point and I thought the same exactly. Mac knows he has to fix the offense NOW. And it appears as if some of that help is here now. Its imperative that the focus on recruiting shift heavily to defense (DL/LB) for next year. Which I am sure they are already working on. If successful they can look to add recruits in every position and more balanced from '18 moving forward.

I already like the look of the offense better and I don't even know what it looks like yet. Does that make sense?

we've got more playmaking WRs in the mode of callaway, two new bruisers at RB, more big bodies at OL along with last year's now-blooded group, and there's no doubt there will be SOME measure of improvement at QB. what's not to like?

It's no fun playing defense when the offense goes 3 and out....the focus for this class was right on the money. If Summers is as good as he's supposed to be the offense could be in the top half of the conference by mid year if not higher. Macs passing game proved that even with a half ass QB it could move the sticks with little or no run support in the first half of last year. The other thing I'm looking forward to is Thompson. Nothing against KT or Matt Jones when he was here, but this guy has the look of a guy who can really eat up yards if he gets to the second level....

I thought you died, but it looks like it was only the left side.

I couldn't help but think the same thing aka said, I like the O better already. Glad I got the entire offseason to work on my O-face.

and perine. top rated RB in bama. stole him from under satan. he's coming in ten pounds heavier than the two jordans were last year and we had excellent production from cronk for a freshman. if summers brings last year's guys along and gets some of the new big boys into the mix, the run game can be a very different kettle of fish. still might be a year away from something consistently dominant though. but you have to like the way the RB corps is taking shape.

Sure it does. Move a QB to WR and we've got a significant change already.
