Maybe by the time he's a Jr. Don't get me wrong, I'm in complete agreement with you about the bigger DT's. Just think this guy could develop like Bullard from a physical standpoint
Bullard is not a DT he's a 5 tech guy. In most systems they'd call him a "strong" end. In the Saban's thing, they call one end a DT and the other end a DE. Hybrid Buck/Jack/Rush is really a LB who blitzes every play.

I'm talking about a NT or a DT that can play inside, at 2, 1 or 0 technique and face potentially three blockers and control two holes. A real damn DT or NT, like Mt Cody, Sharrif, Big Money, Omar Hunter. (I know people here don't recognize that Omar was a run stopping, guard owning beast just like they didn't recognize Bullard's excellent play for his first three years. Chic dig sacks.)

Maybe I will say something. If, like Fowler, Polite gains 40 LBs by the time he reports he would be 300. Another ten by his soph yr would be entirely possible.
Fowler didn't gain 40 lbs. Infact, there was a point where he had to lose weight.

Gentlemen, with all due respect, no matter how much you try to spin yourself into painful contortions for no apparent reason other than to spin, Polite is not and will never be a DT. It's as simple as that. He will probably play at 265-270, perfect for a DE. Even if he ate every vat of peanut butter in Gainesville, he's too tall for DT. He isn't a DT. You want squat guys to get under the pads of the G and C.

We signed no DTs. Mac admits it. Said it is a problem. I'm hoping he fixes it soon.

Stop spinning.

what about cece? 6'1". listed at 275 as a frosh. figure he plays what, 10 lbs heavier at least this year as a big DE? he could do the same sort of duty Bullard provided for us in the really lean year of 2018 as far as the defensive interior is concernced.

He may be forced to play inside but he isn't close to being the run stopper Bullard is. Bullard was a runstopper from the day he walked on the field. Cece is more of a pass rusher, but he's good one on one with a tackle vs. the run. He destroys a TE.

BTW, Ce Ce is as talented I've seen as a true freshman DE. Most are only puss rushers. Ce Ce could be the best we've seen, or at least seen recently, if he isn't forced to move inside due to piss poor roster management.

I do think Jefferson stays outside this year. He's going to be blowing people up all over the place. So very good for a true frosh. Year two should be even better. Have to decide who plays on the other end. In 2018, I'm hopeful guys like Clayton and Polite are ready to kill it at DE and, if need be, we can ask CeCe to do double duty. if injuries mount he could be forced in there as early as this season. hope we don't have to go there.

damn, that baby was born biiiiiigg!

he'll be playing DT at around 320-330 in no time. no, he doesn't need to be squat to squash people and/or occupy two OL.

he's rated like, what, #1 DT in this class? not many like him I'd say. most of the ones with that size go OL.

I think Law is more in the mind of the classic nose tackle stereotype. go sumo, get low, and stop the OL push right at the point of attack.

Yeah, while Saban is filling holes with guys like that we're filling ours with bubble gum.

And yes normally DT's are shorter but there have been some tall ones that were good. John Henderson comes to mind. So it's not impossible for Polite to do it.

I just read that every vat of peanut butter in Gainesville has gone missing.

If Brantley improves as much this next year as he did going into last year he will be one of the best 3 or 4 defensive linemen in the league. This would give us the ability to play some 3 man fronts with Jefferson and Cox as DT/DE and Sheritt/Zuniga/Clayton as the Buck-Jack or whatever you want to call a rush end. For the most part though I see us being better off in 4 man fronts with Jefferson/Ivie/Brantley/Cox as the starters, Clark, Andrew Ivie, Riles and Holley would provide rotation for the DT's and Bryan, Zuniga, Polite would pick up reps at the end position.
I got bashed about the head 4 or 5 years ago for suggesting that Ronald Powell stay at full time LBer because to me he wasn't that effective at rushing the passer and was a liability against the run when on the line.I feel the same way about Sheritt. He only gets to the QB when we're playing lesser competition. However at 240-250 and somewhat athletic, he would probably make a pretty good run stopping LB and at least give us some size if/when Analone gets hurt......

You keep talking about how we can use Ce Ce in 2018. If he's as good as we think he is, there's a good chance he's gone after 2017.
