What is this 'it' you refer to?Lololololololol he thinks it really hurts recruiting. That's freaking hilarious
Swoosh!Another post deflecting the blame where it belongs...Mac.
It's the fans. Laughable. If we have the much affect on recruiting then they should hire some us.
2222Goebbels is working overtime.
Well put.I have made the the statement here that the fan base impacts players' decision to attend a school. I've been told this is a lie.
I am just saying what has been told to me.
Long, long time ago, when I was around people who were potential players, they would speak about the fans. They wanted to be where the fans were supportive, loud, obnoxious, fun, etc.
Believe it or not, I was told, on more than one occasion, UF had a reputation for negative fans...this was back in the late 70's early 80's...probably based on the late 60's, early 70's...Don't shoot the messenger...this is what I was told by potential recruits.
Personally, in the mid and late 80's I thought we had the best fans. We were there every game packed solid, drunk as hell, yelling like crazy till the bitter end whether we lost or won. I do not recall many boos but I do recall lots of loses and signing its great to be a florida gator at the end of the game walking out.
Again, personally, now that I look back over it, I was there for the players and not the other way around. I guess that is why I am not going all negative when we lose. Make constructive criticisms and move on.
It's not a rumor. It's well known he's gay.Well the negativity doesn't help. Not sure how much it hurts. May hurt with some recruits. May just be an easy excuse to give the reporters they try to troll everyday. There is logic based negativity and spewing shyt. We have some of both.
The real question is why Miami is getting recruits with Richt rumor out there.
The negativity doesn't have a positive effect, that's what I'm telling you. If we had a good team and the vibe was mostly positive, we'd get more traffic. As far as "constructive criticism", you can't use that in the same sentence as "fan". They don't go together, never have, never will, in any sport, ever.Never said positive was better than negative. Just that negative is better traffic than constructive criticism. I'm all about the $$$s. But don't ry to act like you're a neutral bystander in all this. And certainly don't try to say that negativity doesn't have an effect, Even on the 30,999 site on the net.
message boards are a form of social media. yes 18yo are not coming on here, but parents, friends of friends, etc. you get the pictureOne more thing: people under 24 don't visit message boards. According to my data, our visitors that are 23 or under is less than 4%. These kids get ALL their info, positive or negative, from social media.
Exactly, shut up and win Mr 2-8.Want to reverse fan negativity? Win some big games. Shocking.
........,,,,Im sure he will get another chance at UAB or Southern Miss eventually.
I'm sorry guys but this is just silly to me. If the negativity on this board is driving recruits away then the opposite must be true. So, if the board becomes overwhelming positive then recruiting will rise with nothing else changing. I don't buy it.
That's like the law of attraction to me, I'll pass.
I remember being on campus when UM was here and I was busting my butt studying and trying to excel. I would be waiting for the bus or walking and I would see the little UAA go cart with the plastic sides with a recruit and his family. I used to just imagine what that experience was like meeting the coaches and university big wigs, having access to locked door facilities, and being given vip treatment to go to the college that I worked so hard to get in.
I highly doubt that at some point that kid said, "all this is great coach, but swamp donkey calls you butters"
If Butters was winning games and fielding a competent offense, no amount of negativity on the internet would affect him.
Butters created this. It's his failure that caused the rightful analysis of his failures.
