I think the biggest issue not mentioned here is that Grier was suspended for a year, meaning he wouldn't have been eligible until the middle of 2016. Who is the quarterback until then? And then do you automatically put him back in the starter role? It was complicated and made sense to just move on.

I hated it because Grier looked like the future, but what do you do?

McElwain kind of backed off of that later when I talked to him about that.
“Grier wanted to return. When I was speaking to him last year in West Virginia for a story I did atBleacher Report, he was emotional about it. There were tears in his eyes talking about it. Not only did he love Florida, he loved the community. He loved the city. He wanted to win a national championship there. He talked about how he still couldn’t sleep at night sometimes thinking about how it went wrong. He felt like McElwain pushed him out.
:banghead:.......**** YOU McButters.....You better pray you pull another rabbit out of your ass with our sorry ass Division schedule and win at least 10 games this year........And if you don't please take your litter of practice squad QB's with you as well as your sorry ass OC.....Oh and don't forget the dozen or so felons that you refuse to run off.....You know, the ones doing Cocaine instead of Creatine.....

Yeah, they probably got a B in an engineering class and were suspended so they could concentrate more on their academics.....and team rules? They probably got a demerit during their room or uniform inspection...

Yeah, team rule are team rules and UF gets those suspensions too.

Continuing my attempt to hijack this thread into something interesting, I was talking to someone today who said this was only the second year of these cards at UF. I guess that means the 2nd year the student ID card was a credit card one can use for on campus purchases.

That makes sense to me. The large number of players involved maked me wonder if there was a long time deal where players bought other things at the book store, sold them, maybe or maybe not rented their books or bought used books and pocketed the difference. Pre cards and an electronic trail maybe players could do this and some players did not understand that would no longer work. In some ways that would explain to me why so many players could get caught up in such a mess.

I wish Grier the best, hope he kicks ass at WVA. Should have continued to be a Gator like he wanted to be. Mac is a snarky BS artist I don't believe anything he says, like the O-line suddenly being superior and the new QBs are gonna roll. Show me, MacindaCrack. Show me, and then I might start to believe in your game. Tomorrow is the time to start. Shut yer yap and put some real numbers on the board - followed by a W

Grier is a special QB talent....Mac is too stupid to recognize it or many other HBC necessities. The program is a clusterfck and won't get much better under his fat, clown, ass.

Team is NEVER ready to play unless someone picks a fight with them in pre-game or disses them like LSU.....time to cut our losses. Peter Principle personified.

It's a mute point now, but your deceiving yourself if you don't think we had the beginning of some Gator mojo brewing with Grier taking snaps.

That's about the worst thing you can say about a coach -- he can't get his guys amped up on his own.

And yet, you can smoke drugs, get caught driving with them, sometimes on a suspended license, be involved in sexual assault type situations and steal from the school but only miss a game every now and then.

For a couple posters determined to defend Mac by painting everything with the broad brush of moral equivalency, this seems pretty inconsistent.
